Die Verhältnisse von Größe, Gewicht und gebotenem Nutzen mach das Tinker zu einem wertvollen, wenn auch unauffälligen, Alltagsbegleiter. Es kann um ein Haar als das bessere Cadett bezeichnet werden, wenn, ja wenn anstatt der kleinen Klinge eine Nagelfeile verbaut worden wäre. Dies ist leider nicht der Fall, wodurch das mögliche Einsatzfeld im Alltag nicht ganz so breit ist, wie es hätte sein können. Die fehlende Personalisierbarkeit ist zwar schade, aber ebenso wie die fehlende Nagelfeile nur meine persönliche Meinung und kein faktischer Nachteil für das Produkt. Generell ist das Tinker aber schon aufgrund seiner Kompaktheit und den für Victorinox typischen Eigenschaften schon eine Show, die jedermann gefallen wird.

Klassiches Sackmesser mit den zu erwartenden, wichtigsten Grundfunktionen. Super auch, dass man den Zapfenzieher weglässt und dafür einen Kreuzschraubenzieher hat.
Wird bei uns als Giveaway im Ausland verwendet, kommt überall sehr gut an.

Super Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis

Machinist by trade and I have always been looking for the best pocket knife multitool. Was spending a lot of time looking at Leatherman style tools, than decided why not give a swiss army knife a try. Worried about quality from knock off ones in my youth I was hesitant and decided to start small with the tinker. Delivered very fast to my surprise but the real treat was how well made this is. Everything is tight and the blades are SHARP. Screwdrivers actually function so well I don't feel the need to just go grab a real screwdriver. On to the finish, very high polish mirror reflection out of the metal. Only tool marks I can even see are on thin edges and I have to squint. Overall very impressed and definitely won't hesitate to upgrade to bigger more exspensive knives. Top notch quality victornox keep up the amazing work.

Dilemma: Thinker or Spartan? Phillips screwdriver, which I use more often than a corkscrew, prompted me to choose this model.

I like to have it all the time with me, in my pocket, but the key ring made holes in my trousers, so I removed it (ground it away). Now, my knife is nice and oval from both sides, without sharp edges.

Instead of a small blade, I'd like to have the nail file, like on the Sportsman model.

Nachdem ich mein Spartan nun fast zehn Jahre jeden Tag dabei hatte und nicht gerade pfleglich verwendete, hab ich mir nun das Tinker gegönnt. Nicht etwa weil das Spartan kaputtgegangen ist, dass steht auch nach all den Jahren im Gebrauch noch perfekter da und funktioniert einwandfrei. Ich hatte nie wirklich Gebrauch für den Korkenzieher deshalb habe ich mir dann das Tinker mit dem Kreuzschlitz Schraubendreher zugelegt. Ausstattungstechnisch sind die beiden bis auf dieses eine Detail identisch. Ich hatte schon verschiedenste Victorinox Messer bis hin zum Swiss Champ dass keine Wünsche offen lässt. Allerdings habe ich gemerkt, dass es immer nur eine Handvoll Werkzeuge gibt die man wirklich täglich benutzt. Darüber hinaus ist man je umfangreicher und teurer das Messer ist, immer vorsichtiger im Gebrauch da man es nicht beschädigen möchte. Das ist das Schöne am Tinker, es kostet wenig, hat alle Werkzeuge dabei die man braucht und wenn es dann doch einmal kaputt gehen sollte weil man es übertrieben hat kann man es problemlos für wenig Geld ersetzen, da es fast überall wo man sich auf der Welt befindet gut verfügbar ist. Allerdings muss ich zugeben, dass ich es trotz ziemlich intensiven Gebrauchs noch nicht einmal geschafft habe ein Victorinox Messer wirklich kaputt zu bekommen. Die Verarbeitung ist einfach so hochklassig und das für einen wirklich gerechtfertigten Preis.

Der perfekte tägliche Begleiter

Ich besitze bereits 8 "Victorionox Spartan" und 1 "Victorinox Tinker/- klein". Das "Victorinox Tinker/-gross" kaufte ich als Ergänzung, zu den "Spartan-Modellen". Diese Messer sind eigentlich die wahrscheinlich meistverkauften Modelle von Victorinox. Ich kaufte diese Messer in verschiedenen Farben, zusammen mit preislich etwas teureren Victorinox Messern. Im Gegensatz zu den "Spartan" ist beim Tinker ein Schraubendreher verbaut. Da diese Modelle im "Low-Budget-Bereich" angesiedelt sind, kann man auf eine feststellbare Klinge verzichten. Wenn man Pakete und Briefe öffnen und nicht Schnitzarbeiten machen will, genügt ein "Victorinox Spartan" oder "Tinker/-gross vollkommen.

Gutes Messer für den Alltag

I have used this tool for a month now, and there is nothing that could take its place. I loved it so much that i ordered a Deluxe Tinker, and plan to collect Victorinox SAKs starting today. Definitely recommend. I've used this knife for everything, from opening packages, to cutting steak when i had no other knives available, and somehow it does everything flawlessly. Out of the box, its razor sharp.

This is a good pocket knife to keep handy around the house. I use it for a everyday things like cutting boxes open, tightening screws, opening bottles, etc. It's very utilitarian, good for quick use before getting out the full toolbox.

All Victorinox pocket knives are extremely useful, it’s just the variation in size, or combination of tools that decide which is best for you. This tinker is convenient to carry, and is very useful. More included tools are handy, but then the Victorinox becomes bulky and heavy. This pocket knife is a great size, comfortable to carry and use.

Perfect size for everyday carry, not to big not to small. Phone, wallet, keys, Tinker! Blades are sharp and hold an edge very well. Always turn heads when you help someone open up a beer bottle with a swiss.

Received as a gift 30 years ago, and I dragged that thing all around the world backpacking and more recently camping with the family. Some jerkface stole it, so now I'm replacing it.

I have been using most of the tools in my tinker however I am impressed with the knife. I particularly use it for fine tuning bamboo sticks for making my kites. It really holds well to the abuse against the bamboo and is still very sharp. It fits perfectly in my hand for this type of use and I have found no alternate for this job yet. I also use the awl to thread my leather finger protection as well. It would have not been possible to fine tune bamboo without it, thanks Victorinox!

Awesome Tool

This is a great knife, and I’ve used it for 3 years without suspecting anything until today I noticed that the packaging says(and shows) a hiker knife! :D But it Is a great knife, very useful

Great Knife

The Tinker is the quintessential edc pocket knife, kitted out with what I need and nothing I don't. Not too small; not too big; just right. It's 2-layer form fits perfectly in my pocket and hand - I never leave home without it, never! Simply holding this knife makes me feel happy. My dad had a Victorinox, so did his dad.  Never underestimate the value of tradition.

Always with me

Honestly I mostly carry a Swiss champ because I want to be fully prepared for anything but with that said this is my first choice for a light edc.  It has all the tools you need.  It’s a spartan without the corkscrew and you gain a Phillips screwdriver.  Very slim and easy on the pocket for daily carry.  No issues with quality or function.  If I could only carry one small knife this would be it.

Tinker is a great knife version because its affordable and light. In average, it only cost $3.33 per tool. One of the cons is that they class the keyring as a tool when in reality it's not.

Best knife I've ever owned

I've carried a lot of different Swiss Army Knives over the years and all of them have been well made but in terms of size vs. features the Tinker is by far my favorite.  I've used every single one of the features & rarely have I wished it had any others.  If you are looking for a great folder that'll actually fit in your pocket then the Tinker is a great option.

My favorite

I have all three medium tinkers. This, the basic model, works very nicely when you don't need the bigger ones. As with all of them, having two Phillips head screwdrivers makes this a hugely practical and useful knife. If you must on,y have one knife, this or the compact. But why not have both? Plus the other tinkers.

I bought mine on a whim while walking by a victorinox store.  I don't regret buying it ever it was one of the best buys i have made in my life. it is sharp, easy to sharpen, and has everything i might need on a day to day basis.

Love Mine

This is a great pocket knife, fits nicely in your pocket. Low maintance, no complicated parts that may break. Two blades assures you that at least one will stay sharp. Wire-stripper will help you jump start your car. Tweezers will get those ticks and splinters out. Awl can be used for sowing a tent or busted zipper shut which may save your life if it is cold. Center mounted Phillips not quite as usefull as a side mounted one, (like on the Explorer) but better than nothing. Red scales makes it easy to find in snow, bush or even under water. Make sure to add a mini LED-flashlight, a whistle and a small ferrorod firestarter to the keyring and you will be able to thackle most things. A god gift for a kid, technical person or a non wine drinker. I gave my brother one and he loved it.

Perfect for my needs

Bought my Tinker at target about a year ago. Since then it has quickly become my favorite and most used pocket knife. I can't go anywhere without it. I even turned down a good paying job when they told me I couldn't have my pocket knife at work. If you're looking for a knife, and a tool, look no further. I've done everything from fixing electrical outlets to cleaning and cooking squirrels with my Tinker. Even built the fire to cook over with it. Life is unpredictable, buy the tool to get you through it.

An amazing knife

I purchased my Tinker almost a year ago after reading some of the reviews on this site, as well as watching MacGyver (I'm a huge fan!!). I was looking for a slim, everyday carry knife with a dedicated Philips Head screwdriver that would fit well in my pocket. I can honestly say that this knife has become an almost constant companion to me! I own numerous Swiss Army Knives, but when I carry any of the others, I find myself wishing I had my Tinker! The only exception to this rule is my Hiker and my Mini Champ (which I carry along with one of these other knives). The Tinker has absolutely everything you could need to accomplish whatever it is you are trying to do, and if it doesn't, it has the tools to make the tool to do the trick! I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another one, and highly recommend this knife to anyone!

A Great All-Around Carry

I am so glad that I got the Tinker!This was my very first SAK That I got back in 1991 and I thought that I would never get another one but I was in luck and got one 2 weeks ago at Bass Pro Shop and they had 1 Tinker left and I got it!It is the best friend you can have and just like MacGyver it gets me out of sticky situations and it is perfect to unlock doors if you have to!Welcome Back Old Friend!!!

Best Friend to have

The small number of tools may put some people off, but this knife is actually extremely versatile - the Tinker is a real jack of all trades while still being compact and easy to carry. Perfect as a first knife for general everyday requirements.

If you're not sure which one to get, grab this one - you can always get a more advanced model later. However, don't be surprised if you find that the Tinker does everything you need.

My only complaint is that the screwdriver is almost useless; something about the tip makes it slip constantly. The flat heads on the bottle opener and can opener can tackle 99% of screws (both flat and phillips) on their own.

Simple pocketknife

I looked at this intriguing knife many times, but thought to myself: "Just too big for a comfortable EDC carry". Then I finally saw one in person at a retail store. I thought: "This might be doable". It was jet black (they did not have the red), but I thought I'd give it a try, at the very reasonable price. 48 hours later, I had decided it was my all time favorite EDC knife. Bluntly, if this knife doesn't have it, you don't need it. Period. Saw? Use a dedicated saw - much more sensible. Scissors? Anything you would use scissors for, a knife blade can do. Size? This, to my astonishment, actually fits comfortably in the change pocket of my jeans! And no, it's not a "mini" or "junior" - it's the 3 1/2" Tinker. It's a SUPERBLY well thought-out design. And I am in love with the jet black! My "Recruit" is in red, and this makes a nice contrast. Absolutely love it. Complaints? As I've mentioned in other reviews, the split ring and lug are, to me, useless, and I grind the lug off carefully. There we go. Perfect!

As the old saying goes: "Must See To Appreciate"

I am on my fourth Tinker in two decades. I repair furniture for a living and not a day goes by without my Tinker coming out of my pocket. Every tool has a practical use. Even the key ring has proven invaluable as a staple puller once I get one end of the staple loose from upholstery.

Gift idea: Rick gave me my initial Tinker. He had it sealed in a variety of containers that required tools on the Tinker to open it: Taped package requiring a knife to cut the packing tape; small crate with straight and Philips screws; and a sealed tin can that required a can opener. Once we went around the house getting the tools necessary to open the present, I found the solution to the challenges was inside! It was a fun experience and still gives me good memories of our friendship every time I use it, even though I am on my fourth Tinker.

Makes the most useful gift that will be appreciated for years

Going back over 30 years, I've owned three of these and there hasn't been a day I haven't used it. They've been muddy, wet (including salt water), dropped countless times, and otherwise abused. Haven't had a failure of any kind until recently, when the closing spring on the large blade gave out. A very minor issue.

One thing I've never figured out is the purpose behind The little keyring on the end. I just remove it and file down the tab. I've never wished I had it back.

I'm naked without it!

This knife is basically the Hiker minus the wood saw blade. In my opinion it's the best "basic" Victorinox knife. By "basic" I mean it has the tools I tend to use on a daily basis but doesn't have the ones I use rarely. That means it's light in weight and also good value because it's cheaper to manufacture.

But at 91mm it's also of a size that means it's large enough to be effective for many everyday tasks and it fits the hand well.

In summary, it's perfect for everyday carry in town :-)

The Best Basic 'Everyday' Swiss Army Knife

I bought this knife for my husband and he loves it. I used it once or twice and I now I'm in love with it. I will be ordering one for myself very soon!

I’ve always wanted a SAK and received for my birthday a Spartan Ecoline, which I immediately exchanged for a Tinker Cellidor.

It was just love at the first sight with my little beauty. It looks stunning and glossy, the metalwork is flawless, the blades are strong and insanely sharp. It fits perfectly in the hand – I often play with it in my palm. I am using each tool every day (except for the can opener). Even the Awe is amazingly usefull (as a prybar or puncher). I don’t know how I managed before having it.

Beauty and usefulness

I have had the Tinker model in my pocket since 1972. and I do mean the same exact one! it is worn, scratched and very much loved. The cross emblems on both sides wore away years ago and every now and then I have had to replace the toothpick. I pull this out of my pocket at least once a week sometimes every day when I need to quickly cut something or fix something. I once repaired my car in the middle of the Arizona desert with nothing more than this knife!

I lost my first cobalt colored "Tinker" that I purchased in 2002. I got a lot of use out of this great small tool. I use it daily, and was at a loss until I recieved the new one.

One like this was my very first Victorinox. Bought with my first week salary on my first job when I still was a student, in 1993. Mine, also has a metal file.

It is still in my everyday bag for my everyday use. Like my wallet and home keys, the victorinox is always with me (not in airplane trips, sure!)

I reshappened it twice (only main blade) during these years, cutting all stuff you can think of (boxes, copper wires, plastics, food, myself(!), wood, etc)

Grip for the philips screwdriver is not optimal at all. Metal file quiet useless for me. Tweezers awesome!

Construction quality's perfect. How many times my Victorinox fell down over hard surfaces? How many times was sumerged by accident in boiling water, dirty car oil or other weird stuff? Too many!, and it looks (almost) perfect. Ok, you have to learn to clean it. Just that.

20 years after I bought it, it is time to buy another one. A linelocker outdoors 111mm Timeliner for me, thanks!

My first. Nothing is perfect, but you can have a Victorinox.

This is the second time I have ordered this knife for my husband after he misplaced his previous one. It is good to have a product that you can be sure of and replace as easily, knowing it will be the same good quality and that you can couunt on the preformance.

Quality and fuctionality far surpass the price point

My pocket is never without a swiss army knife. I keep a few extra around in case (gasp!) I lose one. It is a useful product with just the right tools and sharp blades. I love it and, (as this is my first blue one), I am a convert to blue! The bang for buck ratio is stratospheric! Just buy one or two...you won't be sorry.

my dad bought this knife for me when i was 8 years old. now, 20 years later i still own it and it is in great shape! i carry it with me everywhere i go and it is by far my favorite knife i've ever owned. blade is still sharp and everything is in perfect working order! buy this knife, you will be happy you did!!!

best knife i've ever owned!

For the money this knife can't be beat. I've had mine for about 3 years. The Philips screw driver is what sells this knife in my opinion, it fits most screws and you can get a lot of torque from it. My only complaint is the Philips screw driver and reamer have some play in them when they're deployed which is why it gets 4 stars.

Other than that I would add a saw and scissors with alox scales so it's not as bulky but still find a way to have tweezers and a tooth pick, but that's in a perfect world.

Great knife for the money!

This is a really useful knife. Definetly one of the best. The only feature that I really wish it had is the sawblade, as it's useful for chopping wood. Of course it was after i bought this that i found the hiker model. Anyway, I only bought this a month ago, and I've already used it in many ways. Both blades are sharp and everything is extremely sturdy and durable, as always. I highly recommend this knife to anyone. (over the age of 13, that is ;)

I've had the tinker for about 3 years now and have used it (almost) every day since I got. There has never been a time I couldn't find some use for it. Since it is always in my pocket I get a lot of things done before I could even be bothered to get my tool box.
The tool I like the most and the one I use the most is the philips screwdriver, wich in my opinion is far more useful than a bottle opener.
After three years of cutting apples and opening beer bottles and of course tightening screws every where I went, it is still in almost "out of the box" state. An excellent knife!

My first and favourite

I spent quite a lot of time deciding what SAK to buy and I'm very pleased with the Tinker. It's small and light enough to carry in your pocket without any problems, but still includes all of the most important tools.

I have surprised myself how often I use this thing. I've never owned one before but since carrying this for a few weeks, I seem to find a need for it nearly every day.

What I love best is that I'm not carrying around tools that "I might need one day" ... All the tools on the Tinker are handy and would probably be used by anybody. Screwdrivers, bottle opener, can opener, toothpick, tweezers, and knife. The reamer is the only one I haven't used yet. Very satisfied owner.

Perfect balance between size and functionality

This knife is an absolute must have, I've had this knife for almost a decade. This knife is part of my EDC gear, and also I have one of them in both my BOB (Bug Out Bag) and Car Kit. I've never owned another knife that I've cared as much for. I'd definitely recommend one of these to a friend. Very classy in black! I only wish it had a bail instead of a lanyard ring.

i love this knife i have had it for about 4 years (i'm 13, don't tell the website) and the only problem iv'e had is sand in the joints and i lost the tweezers. this is a good beginning knife and i am considering buying another.

my everyday tool

This is the best knife I've ever carried! Both blades are razor sharp right out of the box and hold an edge well. (they both cut thru thick leather like it was butter) The only thing I think could use a bit of improvement is the can opener. It is not as easy to use as the one on the Wenger knives. But aside from that, this is a great knife. I am seriously considering buying another one.

Fantastic knife!

This is one thing I can't leave home without. On a recent trip I left it home because of TSA concerns. I kept grabbing my pocket for it every few minutes.I did not want to loose it. I have several . All of my jeans have a well worn spot in my back pocket showing the outline of the Tinker. My family makes fun of the spots. I gave my father one too and he carried it everywhere. When he passed, I gave the knife to my son. It's a family tradition, even my wife has one in one of her ppocketbooks

Esta es mi segunda navaja Victorinox es una gran navaja la tengo desde el 2008 y es la que mas uso, me ha resultado muy pracita y sobretodo presente cuando la nesecito con las herramiebtas perfectas.
