A Texas teenager has been charged with the killing of a mother who was shot dead while visiting her son’s grave.

Christian Lamar Weston, 17, was arrested Saturday in connection to the fatal shooting of Yolanda N’Gaojia, 52, who was gunned down while visiting her son Amir’s grave on what would have been his 22nd birthday, police in Killeen, Texas said.

N’Gaojia was shot on March 22 at Calvary Baptist Church Garden of Memories, and died several hours later from her injuries. A second person was shot, but survived, police said.

Weston is currently being held without bond.

On Saturday, August 13, 2022, this case was reviewed by the Bell County District Attorney?s Office and a complaint was returned charging Christian Lamar Weston with Murder. Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson arraigned Weston and ordered him to be Held with No Bond. Weston was also arraigned on an unrelated Unlicensed Carrying of a Weapon where that bond was set at $5,000. Weston is awaiting transport to the Bell County Jail.

N’Gaojia’s son, Amir, died on New Year’s Day this year, according to his obituary. He was one of three children shared by N’Gaojia and her ex-husband, Kineh N’Gaojia.

Following the news of Weston’s arrest, Kineh shared an article to Facebook, writing: ‘I hope he gets the death penalty.’ In the state of Texas, 17-year-olds can be charged as adults.

The slain mother’s ex also took to social media after her death in March.

‘This is stuff you see on movies but it has become our life,’ he wrote a day after her death. ‘I can’t believe you are gone Yolanda N’Gaojia … how y’all gonna kill her on her son birthday at his gravesite???’

N’Gaojia died from her injuries nearly two hours after she was shot, police said.

Killeen police previously called the shooting an ‘isolated incident.’

Weston has been charged with murder and unlicensed carrying of a weapon. He is awaiting transport to Bell County Jail.

Police continue to investigate the shooting. No motive behind the incident has been made public.
