I was struggling to find a white front facing bookshelf and loved the joy kids one. So I bought it anyway and painted it ourselves. It’s made the room.
We love this bookshelf more than any other piece of furniture in our daughters room. It not only looks incredible, but it holds so many books and is engaging when picking out what to read. I ended up making a little pine book that helps it reach over the baseboard, allowing it to be attached to the wall. We have tall baseboards and I didn’t want to have to cut them. This worked out really well. It’s also important to remember to rotate books often, so the ones behind are getting read as well. This ends up making seasonal book rotation more fun and doable. Highly recommend this shelf. We have two side by side and it is even more impactful. It’s such a practical and beautiful way to show off picture books for any book loving family.
I have been looking at this online for months, I finally got to order one and when it showed up it did not disappoint! It’s beautiful, well made, sturdy and very well designed. Ties in with my daughters room nicely. It was also easy to assemble. Love love love!!

Great book shelf, nice and narrow, perfect for rooms with limited floor space. We removed the dowels because they will definitely snap if any pressure is put on them but it still works fine without them. There's a few gaps in the wood after assembling that will have to be sanded down to make it flush - like any mass produced furniture, it's not perfect, but it's still a great bookshelf and serves it's purpose well.

I wanted to address your concerns about the dowels. They are 20mm in diameter and securely attached with screws, offering high resistance to breaking. These dowels are specifically designed to prevent books from falling off the shelf. Regarding the gaps you mentioned, could you kindly send us some photographs? I hardly leave reviews but honestly we are so in love with this bookshelf. I haven’t even put up all the books and they are already picking what to read!!
Teaching mandarin is one of my priorities and I decided to take a leaf out of the retailers trickbook and used the shelf that was on eye level with my 3 year old. Works magically, he kept going for the mandarin books today 😂🤣
Looks lovely in our room too. The bars are good for my younger one too as she has just started to pull up to stand and cruise.
Ps: the screwdriver included was a nice touch
The 5 shelf bookcase has made our new play area the best space in our house. We are able to display so many books and toys and spend hours with our new bub here. I definitely recommend to anyone considering purchasing.
