About

Thousand Below's music covers a wide spectrum, from post-hardcore to mood rock -- something for all of your musical moods, often within the same song.

Thousand Below is made up of James DeBerg (vocals), Josh Thomas (guitar), Josh Billimoria (bass), and Max Santoro (drums). The band came together in 2016 after the members departed from other bands to change direction; DeBerg, formerly of the band Outlands, began working with Thomas on a few songs. They reached out to longtime friends Josh Billmoria, Devin Chance and Garrett Halvax, recorded a few songs, made a press kit and reached out to labels. (Chance has since left the band, while Halvax was replaced by Santoro.)

The band released their debut album The Love You Let Too Close in 2017 after signing with Rise Records. In support of The Love You Let Too Close, they toured extensively with bands like The Devil Wears Prada, Dance Gavin Dance and Being As An Ocean.

In October of 2019, Thousand Below released their sophomore album, Gone In Your Wake, as well as an acoustic EP Let Go Of Your Love, which features a remake of the song "Chemical" with Sumner Peterson. The band released their third album, Hell Finds You Everywhere, in December 2022 while on tour. The project included collaborations with Noah Sebastian of Bad Omens, Matt Flood of Caskets, and CVLTE.

In an interview with Crucial Rhythm, lead singer James DeBerg said, "We don't want people to know whether it's going to be a softer song, a heavier song, or an acoustic song. We're just trying to be diverse, trying to be multifaceted. Every time we make music, we're finding our sound; we're finding stuff that works for us."

Thousand Below will continue to head out on tour in 2023, performing concerts and festival sets throughout the United States.

Thousand Below has occasionally popped up on my Spotify in a random mix but I honestly did not pay them much mind until I saw them live whilst touring with Senses Fail for their 15 anniversary tour of Life is Not a Waiting Room. Since then... obsessed 😍

This band is literally one of the best out there, I bought tickets for “nothing more” only because this band was the opener. In boise. Nothing more sucks, I left when they started. Thousand Below is and always will be one of the greatest up and coming, I sorta hope they stay down low because we all know what happens when you sell out. Next time im getting backstage passes.
