Superb value and quality for next to nothing!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initially purchased this item to transfer data from an old HDD to a newer SSD on a laptop. The HDD attached to a SATA connector on a small circuit board with a USB 3.0 Micro B cable connection (cable provided) on the other side. You can insert the drive into the bay of the enclosure but isn't absolutely necessary if your drive won't fit. Installation took no time. I left the drive in the enclosure as an expansion/backup for use around the house.

Tough Case, easy to use
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My laptop died, so I bought a new one and used this device to transfer my old data from my old hard drive to the new laptop. It was very easy to get working quickly. Plus, I have accidentally dropped it a few times, and it still works great. Thankfully. It even came with a tiny screwdriver to lock the hard drive into the enclosure. Super handy.

Works, but not at full speed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a good enclosure. I connected my Samsung 850 EVO SSD to it to use as an external boot drive for Windows 2 Go and she works fine. However when I ran a CrystalDiskMark benchmark (3 passes) I find that it's slower than a similar external SSD connected via USB 3.0 So just keep in mind, this will not fully saturate your SSD speeds if you're buying this for an SSD, which I did. What I expected was full USB 3.0 speeds which I didn't get. But the product works, so I've awarded 3/5 stars.

Slow but functional. Overpriced.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is not of a bad quality but costs too much for such a slow performance. It is twice as slow as other USB3 enclosures that are sold in other places for half of this price. Also it uses screws ... you can find enclosures with better locking options to let you easy swap drives inside. Do not buy unless you are in rush.

Computer repair
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Grabbed this for my son who does computer repair, states its a great tool to have on hand. Screws in photo are only hand tight for ease of access to the drive when needed or changing drives from job to job.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great little enclosure that can provide you with great flexibility for additional storage housing either a HD or SSD for your laptop. I have several with SSDs and HDs, taking only those specific ones needed for business or on vacations. I place decals on the enclosure to identify the contents.

Q: QuestionMy hard drive doesn't slide into the enclosure easily. Should I return my product?I bought this product for my Macbook Pro hard drive, and I can't get the hard drive into the enclosure easily. I don't want to force it. The peg on the side of my hard drive runs into the rib on the inside of the enclosure, and it won't slide easily in. This is only the case on one side of the enclosure. Is my enclosure defective, and should I return it to the store?
Asked by Alicia.
- A:Answer Most factory hard drives on Macintosh computers have mounting pegs on one or both sides of the drive. These will need to be removed for the drive to fit this case. Be sure you keep the pegs safe, as you may need them to re-install in your Macintosh.

Q: QuestionWill this transfer data from hard drive to new laptop?I have a hard drive from a broken laptop and was not able to retrieve my files before the laptop crashed. So, can I use this product to move files from the hard drive removed from the broken laptop to my new laptop?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Put your old drive in this case and plug it in, all that it takes. Then leave the old hard drive there for a nice external backup drive. Yes, it should work for you.

Q: QuestionHow many GB of storage does the device have?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The device does not have any storage capacity. It is an empty hard drive caddy which can be used to transfer files between hard drives by turning the laptop hard drive into an external drive.

Q: Questionis it compatible with Windows 10?The side of the box says it will work for Windows XP,Vista, 7, 8 or 8.1. I'm assuming it will work with windows 10 but just want to make sure before I open the package. Will I have any issue since I took the hard drive out of my laptop that was running on Windows 7 and will plug it into my new new laptop running Windows 10?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes it is - I use it daily on my laptop with Windows 10 Home.

Q: QuestionI recently, for a friend, took their laptop hard drive (a 2.5" 7.0mm sized) and put it in the enclosure. It is a bit roomy and rattles when shaken. Can I put something around the hard drive to keep it from rattling without causing problems?
Asked by mikey32905.
- A:Answer It sounds like you could use some soft rubber bushings to fill in the gaps. You should not have any issues going with rubber fillers.

Q: Questionwill files, contacts, emails, etc. transfer into the same software as the original computer? I. E. from excel to excel or photos to photos
Asked by Gary.
- A:Answer Not on their own. This enclosure takes your old hard drive and basically makes it a folder you can access from another computer. So you can open the 'folder', find your old excel documents or photos and then go put them into the folders on your new computer and they should work just fine. Might have a compatibility problem if it's different software versions, but that would happen regardless, and has nothing to do with this piece of hardware.

Q: QuestionHow do I know if my drive is 2.5 or 3.5 inch? Its a Seagate Barracuda 7200 and overall measures 4 inches wide. The connector section of the board measures 2.5" and the board is 2.5" high. I'm not computer savvy so please help.
Asked by sewknise.
- A:Answer One way to tell is to google the model number of the drive. Usually it will say the size in the description. A 2.5 inch drive is a laptop hard drive and a 3.5 inch drive is a desktop hard drive. It sounds like from what you are describing you have a 3.5 inch drive. The board that you are referring to is going to be the same size on a desktop drive as it is on a laptop drive because the sata power and data connections are the same on both laptop and desktop drives. But like I said earlier just Google the model number and that should tell you what size drive you have. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionReplacing laptop hard drive with solid state drive. I put new drive into this and clone old hard drive into it , correct ? ( given right form factor etc). 600 GB drive; USB 3.0 port. How long to clone ? Rarely reach "spec" speed on USB ... thanks!
Asked by scooter.
- A:Answer Hi Scooter. My advice would be to use an Installation image to format the new SSD appropriately. This is because even if you make an exact mirror copy of the old hard drive Boot Sectors could be a problem later.
