I bought the Proline 7 after my smaller, beloved, 40 year old Kitchenaid refused to keep kneading my bread dough.  Since purchasing, I have made whole wheat and enriched breads, cookies, cakes.  This mixer handles it all easily and, remarkably, so quietly.  It's like having a professional partner in the kitchen.  I've gotten a simple rolling platform for sliding it out from its corner, as it is quite heavy to move.  But I couldn't be happier...it's also very lovely. My wife is in culinary school as a baking and pastries major so she is constantly experimenting and tweaking her recipes and this is the staple tool. Took about 3 years of procrastinating and much research to finally decide to buy the 7 quart professional mixer.I love to bake bread and was amazed at the power this machine has,user friendly,easy to clean and beautiful addition to my kitchen.I am glad I did my homework but regret not having decided to purchase this years ago.I am a 100%satisfied with my decission and look forward to my next baking day. Love the 7 quart size

I bought this wonderful mixer in March and I just simply love it. I had concerns with my first mixer about longevity, performance, and noise, I've gotta say this mixer is unbothered with any task that I throw at it and trucks right on through stiff doughs like bagels, prolonged mixing projects like Italian meringue buttercream and creates beautifully aerated mouse and whipped cream with its very efficient whisk. The finish is brilliant and I always find myself staring at it in the kitchen, I've got the candy apple red, let me tell you, it's utterly gorgeous and vibrant. The feel is very high end with the handle and all the chrome on the switches and trim band raised letters, truly no expense was spared and I ultimately feel I got my money's worth. You can't beat the 5 year warranty and support offered by the company, though knock-on-wood I haven't needed it yet. I have only one concern, however, and that's with most types of loads with the exception of liquids to aerate, a clicking sound can be heard continuously which makes me question if it's a problem with the gears, the mixer works so that is ultimately what matters to me. It is a splurge, but if you love baking and letting your creativity run wild in the kitchen, then you will be glad you did.

Exceeds Expectations

I promised myself not to do a review for a full year... it's time. I bought this as a pre retirement gift to myself, knowing that once I retired I'd want to distance myself further from prepared foods and get into making bread, which I never had any success with by hand. I chose this over the tilt head for durability, and went for this size not because I expect to be doing large batches, but because of the horsepower.  This machine is getting a lot of use - I make two loaves a week, it handles a double batch of thick bagel dough easily once a week, and shows no signs of weakening.  I've gone from "I can't make bread to save my life" to making excellent breads (we haven't had store bought bread since I got this machine), pizza doughs, really good Montreal style bagels , English muffins, and cinnamon buns as good as those ones at the mall. Even some respectable puff pastry! The strength of this motor lets me cream cold butter straight from the fridge with sugar really quickly (haven't tried creaming butter alone). I agree with some other reviewers that with small amounts, ingredients at the bottom of the bowl can be missed but I'm going to get the paddle with scraper and expect that will help.  So far I have bought and used the spiralizer, pasta and meat grinder attachment - just be careful ordering those because with the latter two there are different pieces that come in some packages and not others.  I regret that buying the grinder package without the plastic cone for sausage making as I haven't been able to find that piece separately.  You'll find the pasta attachments also come in different combos.  Go for the full package if you can.  I have enjoyed these attachments, and make the most use of the meat grinder.   My only beef about the machine is sometimes the attachments come out - this is not a machine flaw at all, but the result of my fingers being arthritic and the screw knob being smooth and small.  If I had any suggestion for improvement it would be to provide more of a wing-nut shaped knob, or even a special larger one that can be turned with the hand instead of a couple of fingers.  Or maybe an "arthritic adaptor" of some kind to put over the knob.  I love this machine, and now that I'm fully retired I'm constantly trying new things.  Since we're enjoying such great bread and baked products, I'm looking forward to getting the grain mill attachment and seeing whether grinding my own flours is as much fun.

Have used this for a year now

I researched extensively when deciding on replacing my broken stand mixer. When looking for a stand mixer I went to the stores, tested the tilt head and the lift stand to better get a grasp as to what mixer would work best for me in the following; capacity, power, effort, and sound. Let me tell you that the Pro 7 was on top for every mixer I sought out and tested. I can make a lot of dough effortlessly. This machine does not scream, or wine under the heavy task of kneeling dough. I can make large batches of cookie dough very easily. The power that this machine has is surreal compared to even the pro 600 series. My friends and I put it to the test. This mixer is much quieter than the pro 600 as well. Must be due to the DC motor as we can have a full conversation without the yelling factor of my old loud machine. I chose this machine after testing out the pro 5, the pro 600 and the Pro 7. If I had to comment on one thing only that is wish this bad boy would have is an attachment for maybe a combi whip bowl set. As I bake many cheesecakes and such and sometimes you want just a little bit to mix up for sauces or whip and the 7 qt bowl is too big to do the job. I would love it if Kitchenaid made this attachment available to the pro 7 stand mixer. I would buy it immediately. This by far is the best stand mixer out there.

Very good product.

This is definitely the most powerful and quiet of the 4 KitchenAid mixers I have owned. There is no noise issue with this one thankfully. I have only had it for around a week but it works well so far. However, the flat beater was chipped on both top corners and peeling. Obviously packed at the factory in this condition. Had foam protection all around. Now I will need to purchase a new beater.This should not happen at this price. Disappointed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great mixer. Beater quality not stellar.

I purchased this mixer from a large, upscale kitchen supply chain in 2012.  It has recently begun clicking, and sounding different. I've laid two other Kitchenaids to rest in my lifetime and if this one goes, I'll never purchase another Kitchenaid product again.
