Why We Like The Lone Peak All-Weather Mid Hiking Shoe
Rain? Snow? Mud? Water crossing? Whatever our thru-hike brings, Altra's Lone Peak All-Weather Mid plows through it all unbothered. Built with an eVent bootie construction, this hiking shoe balances breathability and weather-resistance, so our socks don't get sopped by the rain or our sweat. Under our pack's heavy load, our toes splay freely in the roomy toe box, while the hardwearing, multi-directional lugs fortify our footing.

Great shoe, but leaks make it unwearable
Love this boot, even more secure feeling than the lone peak shoe. I purchased this all weather version to keep my socks dry when walking through wet grass; however, they quickly began to allow moisture inside and after they get wet, your feet stay wet all day due to the liner. I'd recommend just getting the regular version.

NOT WATERPROOF
I bought these shoes to be waterproof for work. The morning dew of clients lawns is enough to soak these through. The shoes are not remotely waterproof and do not dry quickly. Very dissatisfied.

This is the second pair I've purchase and I'm happy with this boot. I wore my last pair out and I was happy with how they held up!

Not durable.
I have had 10 plus pairs of altras and they all fall apart way faster than any other shoe I own. I have remained loyal thinking that altra will make the newer versions more durable. Won't buy again.

keeps the water in, not out
ive had these for almost a year now and ive got nearly 70 miles on them. I started wearing them on asphalt while training. I balame that for tearing up the sole so quickly. The noise noted in other reviews is spot on, but will go away with time so no complaints there. my biggest issue, is i got these to be waterproof. At the very least keep my feet dry when stepping in a puddle while on the trail. They have never done that since brand new. I recently went on a backpacking trip and had wet feet nearly the whole time because they are not very breathable and they let in all the water without letting it back out. This shoe needs some redesign and either no claim to be waterproof or find a better membrane to make them waterproof.

Comfortable but neither waterproof or durable
Comfortable but they don't seem to be constructed as well as I would hope. They are also not waterproof and make popping noises as I walk, like the plastic outers are clicking and popping as they flex. Already seeing delamination of the outer materials after less than a month of wear. The most disappointing Altras I have owned.

Good but not great
I normally wear a size 12 in all other Altra's I've owned but in these I had to step up to a size 12.5. They're comfortable but they make popping noises as I walk, I think it's the plastic pieces on the sides of the shoe making that noise? Those same areas are also already coming unglued after just a couple of weeks of wear. They seem to be made mostly out of plastic? Again, very comfortable but they don't seem to breath very well.

I like
This shoe is smaller than my other Altras. It is a unique boot, never had one like this before. It is waterproof, comfy, easy to put on and off and perfect for walking the dog and I recently discovered playing softball in wet grass and mud it is ideal. I can even run in them. The real ? here is how long will they last. They look sort of flimsy.

Need to stop marketing these as waterproof
This is my second pair. The first stopped being waterproof because the outside material cracked in several places and began to peel away. Altra graciously sen me a second pair. In the interim the shoe had been slightly redesigned and was a lot easier to put on and take off because the top two lace loops had been replaced with hooks, so easy to pull the opening wider, for getting your foot in, and easier to quickly unlace. But I just got back from a long walk in snowy woods, maybe the first time in the year since I've had them that I've really challenged the waterproof quality, and my socks are quite soaked. You really can't call these waterproof.

Narrower in the toes than other lone peaks, no gaiter trap
These feel narrower in the toes than other lone peaks (I have owned three other pairs and the other three always felt identical). Since toe room is the main reason I buy Altra shoes, this is very disappointing. Additionally the lack of a gaiter trap and lack of a hook or exposed lace at the bottom if the lacing means that these don't work with Altra gaiters or other lightweight gaiters and the lack of a boot heel means they don't work with heavier gaiters, making them less useful for snow than my previous Lone Peak RSMs that these replaced. The fact that they have a very solid seal around the ankle decreases snow coming into the snow and partially makes up for this, though.
