Yes, our sons crib got recalled but hes not ready for a bed yet. Hes almost 2 so we thought it would be a waste of time to get another crib. He sleeps in this about every other night, the other nights hes in the bed. He loves it. He takes his naps in here every day. We use recently got a play pen mattress for it(the cost about 27 on walmart). We are waiting for it to arrive. We used it for months without one, just put a soft blanket down.

YES! If your like me I hate clutter, it's easy to take ou and easy to put up. It's not super padded like a bed, but it's just enough.

We live in an apartment so its easy to put away, I may suggest a thick blanket or bad since its a little bit hard to sleep on.

Yes its perfect for a small child newborn to 3 to sleep in. For the newborn I recommend you dont add anything to the bottom let them sleep in it as is. But for a child 1 to 3 you may want to add a pillow or two under a little sheet just so they would be more comfortable. The mat can be a little uncomfortable for an older child.

This works well for a young child (newborn untill ready for toddler bed) My daughter is one and has plenty of room to grow!

I'm not sure how old your grandchild is but my 8 month old slept in it with no problems. The top bars aren't so high and I think because of that, it's easier to place a child into it.

It comes with a mattress already..but you may be able to add something else on top.This bed is not the same size as a crib. I do not know where you will find a mattress this size...

IT COMES WITH A REMOVEABLE SOMEWHAT PADDED BOTTOM. I PUT A NICE THICK QUILT DOWN WHEN SHE NAPS. I DON'T THINK A MATTRESS TO SPEAK OF WOULD FIT. I WAS GOING TO GET A PIECE OF FIRM RUBBER FOAM TO CUSHION IT. THEY ALSO SELL A SHEET WHICH COVERS THE PADDED BOTTOM. IT IS FITTED, BUT PRICEY AT $9.00. I BOUGHT ONE AND I'LL MAKE THE REST... GOOD LUCK IT IS A NICE PLAY YARD CLEANS UP GOOD AND NICELY CONSTRUCTED.

Yes, if you have one small enough. You would want to keep the mat that comes with it in it too. I think it is soft enough for naps as it is.

I ordered the Dram On Me Mattress 3" innerspring and the dimensions were perfect. Fit snug with no gaps. 37.5"L x 25.5"W x 3"H

I have not bought this yet, but I had the idea of buying a twin size egg crate pad at Walmart for about $10, in the regular bedding dept., then cutting it to fit and putting it on top of or under the pad that the play yard comes with. Walmart also sells Garanimals play yard sheets, pack of two for around $9.00.

The bottom is plastic and quite soft. Easy to clean from spitups.

Plastic and I suggest adding an extra pad for comfort.
