Since 2002, the Austin City Limits Festival has continued to grow and attract visitors from all around the world. Named after the popular TV show that first aired in 1976, the ACL Festival initially focused on promoting local acts, but eventually grew to host international artists from all genres. The festival has become so successful that other cities, including Auckland and Sydney, have developed similar events at their own venues. The Austin City Limits Festival started as a weekend event and has since expanded to its current six-day format spread over two weekends, attracting big-name talent (Drake, Keith Urban, and R.E.M., to name a few) and sold-out crowds.
