What is Finasteride?
Finasteride 1mg is a prescription-only hair loss treatment, taken orally, every day. Prescribed to treat male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia), finasteride 1mg tablets are effective in preventing further hair loss and promoting hair regrowth. it is also used to manage systems of an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH). What Does Finasteride Do?
Finasteride 1mg tablets help to stop and prevent further hair loss and help to promote hair regrowth. It works by inhibiting 5-alpha reductase enzymes which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a male hormone that shrinks hair follicles, causing hair thinning and hair loss.
By blocking the conversion of DHT, hair follicles can recover, resulting in reduced amount of hair loss, and in some cases hair regrowth.

Does Finasteride Work?
Yes, it does work, but it is important to note that Finasteride is a baldness treatment and not a cure. For it to be effective, you need to keep taking it. Usually showing results after 3-6 months, it has been clinically proven to have a 90% success rate in slowing and reversing hair loss (results from a trial conducted over five years on over 1,800 men).
There have been other trials that have also seen success showing that Finasteride hair loss treatment works. Conducted in over 2,500 men in another clinical trial showed that Finasteride 1mg had a positive impact on hair growth in 87% of men.
Over two years, a study on 1,500 men demonstrated that 83% of men taking Finasteride experienced an increase in hair growth, a complete stop in hair loss, or both.
How Long Does Finasteride Take To Work?
Finasteride starts working on the scalp almost immediately, but it can take 3-4 months before you notice any results.
Important note: Using Finasteride for hair loss is a slow process that requires persistence and patience and it’s only a treatment therefore you have to keep taking it for it to keep working.

After 1-2 years, Finasteride tablets are at its maximum benefit. Continue to use treatment daily, as the effects of Finasteride start to wear off six months after you stop taking it. If you do not notice any changes after one year of use, you should stop treatment and talk to your doctor about alternative treatments. It is important to note that not all men experience hair growth, in these cases, Finasteride hair loss treatment may work to prevent further balding.

What Happens When You Stop Taking Finasteride Tablets?
Finasteride 1mg can only help to prevent hair loss when the drug is active in the body. This is due to Finasteride's mechanism of action – the drug blocks the enzyme, which is responsible for producing DHT, the hormone that causes hair loss.
If finasteride is stopped, the body will restart the conversion of testosterone to DHT. Hair follicles will react as they did previously, causing hair to thin and shed. You should take tablets continuously for as long as you wish to see results.
Important note: Finasteride has a short half-life and does not stay in your system for very long. Most of the drug will be out of your system within seven days. For treatment to work long-term, you should take a tablet daily without discontinuing treatment.
Finasteride Dosage Instructions

Finasteride Side Effects
Finasteride tablets have a number of listed side effects, as do all medication. Not everyone experiences side effects.
Side effects of Finasteride 1mg may include:
- Loss of sexual desire
- Difficulty getting and maintaining an erection

- Depression
- A lump on the breast
- Enlargement of the breast
