Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pay subscription and plenty of bandwidth required I have owned the ring doorbell pro for 8 months now. It looks really smart mounted into the brickmold beside my door. Unfortunately my DSL connection has only .6mb upload speed. This is inadequate to view live video or talk to someone at the door through my phone. This device will require a paid subscription to be of much use after 30 days. All you will get is notifications of motion or button pushed. There are other choices which at least give some cloud storage for free. If I was going to do it again (which I probably will) I would leave the plain old doorbell there and mount a camera somewhere near the front door that has motion detection and some free cloud storage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works very well This is the PRO Ring doorbell. Meaning that you will need to hard wire it. My doorbell transformer is 16VA which is barely minimum (cheap builder grade). The wiring was quite easy and made it to use the already installed chime. I have a very good router with a wide coverage so Wifi signal to the Ring is not a problem, but this is the cause of most people's problems. Your ISP router is NOT going to cut it. You need a good multi-antenna router that offers strong coverage all around your house. I eventually replaced the transformer with a 40VA so that driving the physical chime doesn't drain the power to the doorbell. You don't need a high-end phone or tablet to run the Ring app. My old iPad2 and iPhone 4S work with it. Now the cons. The notification sound on Android cannot be customized. Gave that feedback months ago and still no change. You might think it is weird I provide both iOS and Android feedback, but I have a complex setup. Also make sure your internet package can handle the high bandwidth usage of the Ring Pro. It is 1080p that uploads to the Ring server whenever movement/ring is detected. I prefer the Pro for the feature where you can set motion detection zones so that cars on the street don't trigger the motion detection alarm.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The Unit is not turn on after the Installation I were so excited to bought this product for a security purpose. After an hour struggling to install the unit. The Unit not turn on at all. Now I have to change the voltage on my doorbell to test it out, which I have no clue how to do it. the old version Ring Door Bell which is on battery has so much false alarms ( return after 2 weeks using). the pro Ring Door couldn't turn on at all ( returning soon).

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work when you need it the most Originally purchased the Ring Pro and after installation, it didn't work. Ring asked me to return it and get another as they were having firmware problems. Wasted time going to 2 stores to find one. Once installed it seemed to work well but did not work with the doorbell. After speaking to Ring Customer Service, I got a wireless doorbell with wifi extender. The doorbell started working but now I have all kinds of problems with video. The video is either ok, sluggish or just blacked out. Once again after speaking to Ring customer service several times over the span of a week and a half, I was advised to have my network checked through my service provider. I have never had any network problems. The worst part of this is that it seems most of the important videos (after hours) you want to view are the blacked out recordings. If you don't have a receptacle close to your front door, don't buy this unit or you will not be happy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Designed to fail in under 2 years This product contains an internal rechargeable battery that is not designed to be replaceable. It uses the battery to keep the unit running while the interior doorbell chime is ringing. Because of the temperatures the unit is exposed to outdoors, it is constantly kept at full charge (not good for lithium batteries) and just the fact that rechargeable batteries have a limited lifespan this product will likely fail. Your symptoms of this failure will be the camera reboots when someone presses the button and your internal bell will likely only ring weakly (mechanical) or for a short period of time (digital) until it doesn't have enough power to even get a partial ring and your camera simply reboots at the moment it tries to initiate the internal doorbell. If you disable the doorbell kit setting it might keep working, but the eventual total failure of the internal battery is likely to cause further issues over time. When I contacted Ring customer support they would not replace the unit as it's over 1 year since purchase. Also they say they will not offer me a discount to replace it, or any repair service. In my opinion this is a product that has a serious design flaw. Ring/Amazon, please fix the flaws in the hardware and offer free repairs to anyone who experiences these issues.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Save your money I had to get a replacement doorbell from ring after my original was DOA. The replacement doorbell worked well until just after a year using it. It died and I called support who was not helpful And said the doorbell was out of warranty. I looked at repairing my Ring pro. i found out there is an internal battery that dies just beyond the year warranty period. The battery is really hard to find...I am still looking for a replacement battery. I found instructions on a difficult repair. Save yourself the money

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Caution to Canadians - incompatible in many way First disappointment was that the Ring PRO bilingual came only with French instructions and no English. It was no easy to find English ones online and we were very disappointed in the quality control that they would be sent out without instructions both languages. We have spent HOURS dealing with installation and service issues already. This has not been worth it!!! Installed on our two MONTH old house where everything is upgraded and newest technology (so don't think you're safe from what follows if your house is new/er). Immediately after turning fuse back on post-installation the doorbell wouldn't stop ringing. Called RING who advised that we needed a replacement power kit (one was included) and would send. Took one week. Had to uninstall and put old chime back on. Replacement power kit arrived and went through process again - now the doorbell wouldn't work at all. RING advised that we need to return to original purchase location (40 minute drive EACH WAY). We chewed on this, then called again to explain this is ridiculous if product is defective...they could send replacement. They advised if they did this we could never return it if it subsequently failed to work!!! (Nice belief in your product!). We tried to troubleshoot again to avoid 1.5 hours of driving and eventually RING said problem was (1) our chime might be incompatible and (2) transformer, although meeting the minimum 16v, likely wasn't enough. To speak to (1) above, they couldn't find our chime on their model list. Turns out their models are US, so as we were on phone and provided multiple model numbers of available chimes in Canada, none of these match their US models. To determine if this is the issue we must buy a new chime, so factor that into your cost. Problem is that although THEY maintain a list of compatible chimes and they refuse to share the list with you!!! You have to give them a model number to check, one by one, so we will have to call them from a store to figure this out based on product availability - most Canadian chime model numbers aren't on their lists. Compare this with US reviews - Americans have been sent free RING CHIMEs to deal with this issue but no such offer to Canadians. Regarding (2), as others have written, although they claim 16v transformer sufficient, it is NOT. Don't even bother trying. In the US they send you a compatible transformer as we've read on US reviews - absolutely no offer to us, so we now must also purchase a new transformer. In fact, when we were searching online to find the instruction manual that we didn't receive, we found their own instruction manual as to how to replace transformer with the one they supply! And yet they won't supply us with one. In the end we will end up spending about $70 more than we paid for the RING just to TRY to get it to work. If it doesn't then we just drilled two holes in our brand new brick for nothing and will need to follow up in small claims court with them for selling products that aren't possible to be installed, resulting in our destroying the brickwork because they don't tell you of this - we met every comparability requirement listed on the box. Do yourself a favour and DO NOT bother.

Would more than one person be able to setup on their phones or multiple iPad/phone.

Asked by: Lina
Hello Lina, Great question! Yes, once you've completed setting up your Ring device in your app, you will be the sole account Owner. As the account Owner, you have control over all the settings on your Ring devices. If you want to use multiple electronic devices (tablet, another phone, etc.) to control your Ring devices, download the Ring app onto the additional devices and use the same login and password you used to log in to the Ring app. You can give a Shared User the ability to view one or more of the devices on your Ring account. You can grant or revoke Shared User access at any time. In order to be added as a Shared User the person must have their own separate Ring account, and use their own email and password to login. If you have multiple Ring devices, you must add the Shared User to each device individually. Please review the following article detailing step-by-step directions for completing this task: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/211018223-Controlling-Ring-Devices-with-Multiple-Electronic-Devices-and-Allowing-Access-to-Shared-Users Reach out to our dedicated support team with any further questions! Is it compatible with 230 volts in Europe? Thanks

Asked by: Ezeit
Hello Ezeit. We appreciate the time you have taken to ask this question. No, if your existing chime is powered directly with 230 volts and does not include a step-down transformer to lower the voltage to 8 to 24 VAC, then your system is not compatible with your Ring Wired Doorbell Plus and will need to be replaced with a Ring DIN Rail Transformer (2nd Generation) by a qualified electrician. Hi there. What is the temperature range this device is able to operate with? Thank you in advance.

Asked by: Rodrigo
I've had the Ring Pro for a year now and we went through a particularly brutal winter in central Alberta. Many nights of almost -40C. The doorbell survived and functioned just fine.

Is there a monthly charge for storing the video? Living in Ottawa, sometimes the temperature falls below -20°C during the winter. How will this affect the doorbell operation?

Asked by: fonenuts
Hi Fonenuts, Thanks for reaching out. The operating temperatures for the Ring Pro are -5 degrees Fahrenheit and 120 degrees Fahrenheit. (-20.5 degrees Celsius and 48.5 degrees Celsius). Additionally, our optional Protect Plan allows you to access/download/share past Ring videos. Without this service, you'll still receive real-time video alerts on your smartphone as well as have access to Live View.
