We stayed at 5 different hotels during our week at Iceland and this Hotel was my favourite. Modern, clean and comfortable. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was absolutely the best. They even had herring as a buffet option. Loved it

Great location for a visit to the South Coast of Iceland. Made reservation for dinner and enjoyed a delicious home cooked meal. Very friendly and helpful staff!
Located in Vík town center, this historic century-old hostel is a 10 minutes’ walk from Vík’s famous black beach. Guests have access to a communal, well-equipped kitchen and shared seating area.

The room was clean, but too small, we had to leave luggage in the car and bring only necessary stuff to the room. There were only two sockets in the room, one of which didn’t work. The facilities were ok, just kitchen stuff was a bit old (all pans were scratched, cups chipped). It was hard to park the car late in the evening. This hostel is ok, but overpriced, you can get better options for this price.

Loved the hostel! Fantastic location for exploring the south of Iceland. Spacious room with a gorgeous view. We didn't bring our child along on this trip, but there was a crib in our room and plenty of space.

Basic place but some amazing things to see / explore / do.
Basic place but some amazing things to see / explore / do. Good eating options, but as normal with Iceland, super expensive. Black Crust Pizza was cool. So was the Soup Place in same place as Lava Show. If we had more time, we would have tried the town pub + other places to eat.

Great little charming town in the middle of nowhere. close to Dyrholaey, the Black Sand Beach and many waterfalls and glaciers. Excellent base for southern coast. Has everything you need including a few great restaurants, grocery store, liquor store(very expensive), and store for outdoor wear if you need it.

How can one come to Iceland and not stay in Vik?
How can one come to Iceland and not stay in Vik? We had a fabulous dinner at a restaraunt that was in an old white building, like a house, cannot remember the name. We had a delicious bread basket with fresh butter, pesto, and a red aioli. Dinner was trout and arctic char that was caught locally. For dessert we shared an amazing apple pie that had a tiny bit of crunchy morsels in the streusel topping with a side of ice cream. It was top notch.

The black sand beach was amazing but other than that and it being a convenient stop for folk visiting the glacial lagoon and diamond beach, we preferred other locations in Iceland.
The area along Route 1 is quite commercial with a large hotel and apartments, a shopping complex and a gas station. Unfortunately the guesthouse we booked into was sub-par and we were so keen to leave we didn't venture into "old Vic", so can't really comment on that part of the town.
Of the places we stayed in Iceland, Vic was our least favourite in terms of access to other key attractions in the area, but we were there in September in some questionable weather so can't really comment on hiking opportunities or anything.

Vik is a cute town and the beach/rock formations and church are beautiful. We ate at Wok in Vik which was very good--and from there you can take the path to walk to the beach. It would have been great for Northern Lights viewing but was too cloudy when we were there. It is about a half day visit unless you decide to do horseback riding or other tours.

A lot was happening in this small town.
A lot was happening in this small town. Besides the iconic black sand beach, there were many restaurants, shops and markets. Several tours met in the town which made Vik a convenient spot to stay. We stayed only one night, but could have easily spent more time there.
The rooms were modern, perfectly sized, well-designed, and well soundproofed. The bed was very comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. The location was ideal—close to Vík but far enough to avoid light pollution, which allowed us to see the Northern Lights. The staff was incredibly friendly and even gave us advice on the best spots to watch the auroras. And the breakfast? Simply one of the best we had in Iceland.
The hotel is beautiful. The staff are fantastic, the food in the restaurant is delicious, the restaurant itself is a fantastic room very high ceiling with a great view out to the cliffs behind the hotel. Bar area is nice and cosy with the drinks made also very very good. Breakfast was the best we had in Iceland by a long way.
This was one of the best guesthouses where we stayed during our trip in Iceland. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious, and the bathrooms very clean. Also the big hall used for breakfast with view over Vik is simply amazing. Definitely exceeded our expectations.
I think, what i like about this place is the location, near to vik and the black sand beach. So easy to check in and unlike most of stay in Iceland, this one will do room cleaning even though i feel the vibe like an airbnb.
This hotel was one of the most comfy hotels during our stay in Iceland. Good value for money, comfortable rooms, nice bathroom with floor heating, cosy lobby, great breakfast selection.
