This tank has VERY thin glass!!! I'm returning it.

No, it comes with the hood, the light, the filter, food, and water sample and a filter catridge, I recommend the tetra 5-15 from wal mart

I would switch the lights out with ones that fit for reef situations at Petco. That's what I do. The given lighting is not bright.

The LEDs on this kit are not designed for live plants. This light is the equivalent of a standard fluorescent tube, about 5000 Kelvin; plants require 6500 Kelvin.

No, the LED on this tank is quite small, but I have read that it is easy to attach a light to the lid for live plants. The LED light that comes with this does NOT come attached to the hood, so it can be pretty flexible.

I also asked this question when I bought the tank. From what I was told, low light, hardy plants like java fern, java moss, and marimo moss balls should do fine in this tank. I have two marimo balls and a bunch of cuttings from my pothos house plant in my tank and they seem to be doing well. I have not tried any other plants yet, but as long as they can tolerate low light they should do fine.

Most definitely NOT. They're not bright enough to even illuminate the tank properly much less work for low light plants.

Great little Tank...

Great quality at a great price! It comes with everything that you need to get started. Everything except the gravel and plants, of course. We went to our local pet store and couldn’t find a glass tank of this size at this price point. This little tank is a great value. The filter is also very quiet. I had a 3 gallon tank years ago and the filter it came with was WAY louder. Overall, it’s a good tank and my kids are loving it.

the tank is good sturdy glass, no heater included but will go buy one. I putting in live plants and the small led light is not bright enough for plants.  I am just starting to set it up, no completed yet. Might get new hood. so really you are paying for the tank and filter which is good and quiet. going to purchase a beautiful Betta and let him swim away!

Not bad

I actually ended up splitting this tank between 2 Betta fish and they love it, one of them was actually in a half gallon bowl for 2 weeks so this is an upgrade for him and the other had his own 2.5 gallon tank. This tank cost me what it would've cost to get another identical 2.5 tank to the one I have. Very easy set up, just wish the lights were more spread out and the filter wasn't so bulky, but I'll be replacing the filter anyways since I'll be needing 2 http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=9821 .Only other problem is that some of the silicone used to seal this tank traveled to other parts of the glass during assembly, so there maybe some silicone finger prints you need to rub off with alcohol.

Good starter tank, great for bettas

I think the one I purchased had some kind of dead bugs in it. Everything besides the tank was clean and easy to put together. I’ve had no issues with the lights as others seemed to have. No leaks or issues. It is a nice sized tank. The directions say you can pop out the openings for the light wire and filter but I think that is only for the larger tanks, it was not true for the 5 gallon. The "whisper" filter is not quiet at all. It isn't horrible however I expected it to be almost unable to be heard and it isn’t. The opening for food is good and has a decent amount of space. The lights give a decent amount of light with no heat. For a quick starter tank for 1 or 2 fish this is good. Other than the tank being dirty upon opening and filter not being very quiet I would recommend it.

Bought this tank 2 months ago for a couple goldfish. This morning there was water on the table. Upon inspection the tank is leaking from the lower right seal/joint.  I realize this was an inexpensive setup but still should last longer than 2 months.  Now that we have fish living in it I am forced to buy and set up another tank.
