'Timeless' is a dangerous word to use when talking about fashion, but the design language of the peacoat has stayed consistent through its decades of popularity. If it could have been improved, then it probably would have been by now. This is the type of jacket that was MADE TO LAST a lifetime (and still look stylish doing so).

The four key points of that design language. Firstly, the double-breasted design in a weighty woollen material effectively blocks out the wind and rain. Secondly, substantial mock horn buttons for an easy and secure fastening. Thirdly, slip pockets at the side provide easy access for chilly hands. Lastly, a robust collar that can be popped up to keep the wind off your neck.

We're still open to invention though, so we've chosen to divert from the navy blue or black that you might expect from a peacoat. Reflecting a different military tradition, Air Force blue is a touch less stark and high contrast than navy blue, but will provide an equally versatile palette to dress from.

Less apparent from the outside, but sure to gratify the wearer, are some extra quality of life features. The pockets and collar underside feature a cosy corduroy lining, and the inner lining houses a number of pockets including one for your mobile phone.

It's not just us that love this coat – we sold out of this model in three and a half weeks last year. Not trying to add pressure or anything.
