It’s not a bad blender for the price. I bought it in a pinch as we are moving and my good blender is packed in storage unit. I would have preferred a better more secured top on the blender. When we finally move into our new home I will keep this as a back up.

Blender technology hasn't really changed a lot over the years so there's not much Oster can do with this latest low-to-mid-tier offering other than provide a well-built product that does what it is supposed to. In that respect, this blender is a no brainer--if you need a blender for basic kitchen prep, you won't be sorry you purchased this one. The design is simple, with only a few intelligently labeled buttons on the front to worry about--no smart sensors, no timers to set, no digital display to watch, just three food setting buttons corresponding to various speeds and pulse rates with informative labels like Frozen Smoothies, Chop/Salsa, and Milkshakes. There are also three manual speed buttons for blending your own way, along with power, stop and pulse buttons to give you control over basic motor operations. It's refreshing to have an appliance in the kitchen that doesn't require an extensive manual to proficiently operate. The 6 cup pitcher is glass rather than plastic which is a nice touch in today's world of cost and corner cutting, but what we really liked about this model is the 6-blade chopping design on the base vice the 4 you get with most blenders on the market today. This extra set of blades, coupled with a powerful 1200 watt motor, simply buried the competition we had sitting on our counter by grinding up ingredients in record time with no offending chunks left in the bottom. For example, we took a smoothie cup full of ice, milk, completely frozen fruits, and some smoothie mix, hit the smoothie button, and had a completely blended, ready-to-drink smoothie in under 7 seconds. Compared to the black "bullet-style" smoothie maker we've been using for the past year, the performance of the Oster Pro was miles ahead in both speed and power. The only stones to throw are minor and have to do with the design of the base. The brushed nickel colorway is interesting but in person it looks more like brushed chrome to me--I'm not sure how well it will blend with other elements of the modern kitchen (i.e. black or stainless appliances) as it's not a very common finish...if that sort of thing even matters to you. The base is plastic rather than metal which is a little unfortunate, even if forgivable at this price point--the bottom has non-slip pads as opposed to [available] suction cups. That's not a deal breaker of course, and the plastic material means that you won't see rust or dents mysteriously develop over time; but given that the base isn't as substantial feeling as the size of the motor and heft of the glass pitcher would have you expect, I have to wonder if the blender will slowly start to move around the countertop over time. Again, this is a minor niggle that is easy to overlook given the stellar performance at actually blending and chopping. Other than that, a stamper for the pitcher would have been nice to loosen those stubborn ingredients that just refuse to settle downwards towards the chopping blades; but in all the time we used the Oster Pro, we have yet to see the blades fail to drawn the pitcher's contents down to their swirling doom. Bottom line--this isn't the fanciest blender on the market, but it is a tremendous value given its power, ease and simplicity of use, dual purpose as both a full-sized blender and blend-and-go unit, and it feels sturdy and well-crafted enough to last for many years of faithful kitchen service. Given what we've paid for even lesser-capable units, the Oster Pro is definitely highly recommended!

Powerful and Easy to Use Blender

The Oster Pro 2500 Blender is the most powerful blender I have ever owned. The solid glass jar along with the quality feel of the base shows that this device is built to last. The controls are clear which makes this blender easy to use. There are pre-programmed buttons for the most common blender needs: Green/Frozen Smoothies, Food Chop/Salsa, and Milkshakes. The other buttons are Low, Medium, High, Pulse, On/Off, and Stop. This blender had no problem with large ice cubes or frozen fruit, due to the strong 2500 watt engine. The solid base kept the blender in one spot and prevented any movement while blending. This also comes with a Smoothie cup that easily attaches to the twist-on blades base. I am very happy with this blender and I’m quite confident it will handle whatever I need to blend. I highly recommend it for any home or professional kitchen.

Presets Make Great Smoothies & Shake Easy

This a solid powerful blender and a great value. Pros + I love the preset buttons for smoothies, milkshakes, and salsa (pretty much covers what I use a blender to make). The blender automatically reverses, adjust speed, and times out how long to blend for you. It saved me a lot of time on the smoothie and milkshake settings, because I normally don't blend it long enough and keep stopping to check - I just pushed the button and got a great result. + Plenty of power - I threw 1/2 a pint of ice cream, frozen solid, straight from the freezer in it for a milkshake and it didn't faze it. + The automatic reversing really helps suck things down into the blades. + Rubber feet and a solid base keep it planted. + Glass jar is nice and solid. + Blades and jar are easy to clean (tip: after you are done, fill the jar 2/3 full of warm water and soap, then let it run at low speed for a minute). + Buttons are soft touch and easy to operate. Things to Consider + The case looks like metal but is actually a solid plastic. I don't have an issue with this. It probably makes it lighter and easy to move around, but the picture fooled me and I was surprised when I open the box. + The print for the button labels might be a tad small for some. + The included to-go blending cup has a square base and might be a little big or not fit some car cup holders. I was sure it wasn't going to fit my Jeep but was surprised to find it was almost perfect. I really like this blender. My wife has already recommended it to a friend of hers after our first set of smoothies. It isn't complicated, but I was impressed with how useful the preset buttons are.

    Classic glass pitcher

Most blenders today are mostly plastic, so I was a little surprised by the thick glass pitcher of this Oster Pro. Even higher dollar blenders have plastic jars, so this gives it a bit of a classic touch. The color of the base of the blender is nice, it looks like shiny brushed nickel, but it is plastic. The bottom of the blender doesn’t have any suction like some do, so when blending ice, you might want to hold on to it as it will move under its own force. For the most part, the pre-programmed buttons of Green/Frozen Smoothies, Food Chop/Salsa and Milkshakes do a decent job of slow pulses and progress to blend. The pauses between the pulses do help in letting some of the heavier objects sink down to be blended. However, what would really be ideal is if there was a custom plunger to assist. I found on thicker smoothies it doesn’t create enough of a vortex to pull in all of the top material and a little assistance was needed, even in the go cup with some shaking. For the go cup, the method they chose to keep the cup from possibly spinning off is a bit basic. There is a spring tab that feels like it will easily break off if you slip and put pressure on it when turning, but you are to make sure it ends up on the outside of one of the four tabs on the cup. To me, it felt like it was either too loose or too tight to get to them. Unlike some other blenders, there are no safety features to this. Whether the cup is on, the lid is off, or not, it will run, so be aware.

    Easy to use blender presets

The Oster Pro® 1200 Plus Blend-N-Go® Smoothie Cup, Brushed Nickel Blender does the job with very little effort thanks to its powerful 1,200 Watt motor. At this price point, it is nice to have a thick glass jar that cleans well and will probably last longer than the rest of the unit... Be careful not to drop it, as it is fairly heavy. It can handle a wide variety of ingredients such as fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables, ice cubes which will crush, chop, blend and puree. It has a total of 9 buttons, 7 of which are presets for smoothie, chop/salsa, milkshake, pulse or continuous blending at low, medium or high speeds. The top 3 presets are very easy to use, as it will automatically vary the speed, stop, go in reverse and repeat the cycle a few times to help move stubborn ingredients down into the stainless steel blades. That pretty much guarantees you get a good consistent mix. First thing I used it for when I first got it was to make a custom frozen strawberry smoothie, so I added a few good chunks of frozen strawberries, also added a handful of fresh blueberries that I normally use for breakfast and half a glass of OJ. Done in no time, good texture and a perfect blend. Also made an ice cream milkshake in the smaller portable mug and took it for a “spin” in my truck. It fit well in the cup holder, though the blend-n-go cup seems a bit bulky, so I don’t know if it would fit in a smaller sedan cup holder. In terms of esthetics, the main unit looks like a more expensive appliance, due to its brushed nickel/stainless look, but don’t be fooled cause it’s plastic. But that’s fine, it still does the job and it won’t stain or rust like some of the other low quality “real” stainless appliances I’ve been disappointed by in the past. The blades are stainless steel and the main big jar is glass, so that’s all that matters.

    Heavy Weight Blender

It's been a long time since the last time I used a glass blender. Mainly because they usually bulky , in the way and all around a pain to clean. Too many moving parts that serve unnecessary purposes. Plus the glass is just delicate. This Oster is a monster. It has a heavy glass container that a person could use to defend themselves ,if needed. ( I hope that is never the case.) But it's stacked to hold something down. The base is a brushed metal design, but is made of a plastic, so I don't see it rusting out if it's left in a damp setting. Now the meat. This thing blends like a BOSS!!! The normal blender I use is great and all, but it's old and is definitely showing it's age. It takes more time to blend my protein shakes than usual and it's basically time to upgrade. The Oster Pro 1200 Plus is just what the doctor ordered. It makes smoothies like a champ, salsa, like a champ. Shakes like a champ and cleans up like a....Pro. At the price of $69.99, there's few excuses to stop you from getting this. There's also a 24 oz Go cup that you can use to blend up a quick smoothie and ..er..Go. I really like the design of the Go cup , as it leaves space for over filled drinks. Note: Don't over fill your cups. That glutenous. But yeah. I recommend this to anyone that has the cash to drop for a very good blender, because this baby is fast. Just don't drop it on your foot.

I don't do much in the kitchen other than watch Food Network while in the kitchen. But blenders are my thing. I like making smoothies nearly every day, so getting to try this out was a perfect opportunity. There's nothing fancy with what I blend. Ice, frozen mangoes, and some fresh berries (either strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries) and I found that other high end brands still had difficulty blending this concoction and would still leave ice chunks. To my surprise, this Oster Pro left me with little to no chunks! It could be that my main Blendtec Blender is getting older and the blades are not what they once were, but this was still pretty impressive to me. I've made smoothies nearly every day with this now and haven't had any problems. Honestly as a general consumer, I couldn't tell you about the nitty gritty differences between the blade size and the speeds used, I just look at the overall looks, what it's able to do, and try it out for myself. Blenders haven't changed much so it's kind of hard to mess up the formula.

With 1200 watts the blender will shred through almost anything. The blender has nothing crazy in terms of modes. It has your typical low, medium and high speeds plus some frozen, chopping, ans smoothies options. Where the blender really shines is its power. You can toss several things from dry to frozen chunks of ice and the blender will not stutter like other blenders with lower power will. I would say the only nitpicks i have are the brushed finish being a little too shiny almost like if it was chrome. I have other appliances with the same nickel finish and you can barely tell the difference, but this blender its almost like a mirror. Also the locking mechanism gimmick on the base where you screw the jar is a big no for me. I get it, its supposed to act as leverage when you tighten the jar or trying to loosen it up, but in all honesty i ended it up breaking it by accident without applying too much force. Overall its a really good blender, and great at its purpose. I recommend it if you don't mind the shiny reflective finish.

I was on the lookout for a new blender. My previous blender was very old and just wasn’t “cutting it” anymore. Originally, I had planned to go with one of those fancy/expensive blenders but then I came across this one. Im glad I did. One of the features I was looking for was the personal blender cup so I could make single serve smoothies and such. This one had that so I decided to give it a try. It works AMAZING. I love everything about this blender. The preset modes work perfectly. I had no clue how handy they were as I would typically just use pulse mode all the time. I decided to try the preset blend modes and was amazed at what I was missing. I make margaritas weekly and this blender has been such a wonderful time saver. They come out perfect! My previous blender has trouble and left chunks of ice. This one blends it perfect. The build quality looks and feels very good as well. I would highly recommend this blender and feel it could hold its own in competition with the other fancy/expensive blenders. I cant wait to make salsa with it when my garden starts producing!

I got this and was initially thinking it'll be like other blenders I've had, not very good. However, this thing is amazing! I have used it for all kinds of stuff, from milkshakes, smoothies (with the cup), and even as a food processor to chop up food for my dogs. Not to be too graphic, but I'll take cooked chicken, put it in, and blend it on low and it not only grabs it all and turns it into the sawdust texture I need to mix in with their food, but it got it ALL. Never happened before. Awesome! I love that. The power is so strong on this that low is adequate for most stuff. Medium gives it a boost. High is like a jet engine running. And I'm not kidding. It has the power to chop through anything. The smoothie cup is no joke. At first I didn't know how it would work, but now I do. You put the bottom on the blender stuff on the cup, turn it upside down and you start it. So all the residue (yummy stuff) left on the glass pitcher will be in the cup instead. So now I get why this is so cool. Anyway, the one really cool thing I learned is that to pre-clean or clean in some cases, is to make a dishwasher soap smoothie. Put in about 1/2 a pitcher of water, then a bit of dishwasher soap, and then start it up and let it do its magic. Very nice, never knew of this and I'm in my 50's so I feel pretty clueless this is a way to clean this or pre-clean this in a smart way. Anyway, great blender/food processor, and will get years of use out of this I'm sure, based on the quality construction. The base weight is a clue this is a solid machine. No kidding, and a beautiful chrome/stainless finish. The pitcher is a solid glass pitcher with a very well designed blade system, rubber seal, etc. This will go well with any decor.

Pros: Sturdy Heavy duty glass blending jar Smoothie Go Cup with lid (BPA free) Pre programmed buttons for Smoothies, Salsa, and Milkshakes plus all the classic Low/Med/High/Pulse options Everything is dishwasher safe Cons: None so far!
