Fade by Skyuka published on 2022-07-21T15:58:19Z Fade' is the first release from my upcoming EP. I wrote 'Fade' about 10 years ago, although the song was completely different back then. It was way too long and a bit all over the place. After being in the “too hard basket” for so many years I finally came back to it. I was now a much more experienced songwriter and could look at the song objectively and cull and arrange the song in a much more cohesive way. I wrote 'Fade' after I’d packed up my life and had moved to Sydney. I was young and naive and had met someone who only wanted a casual relationship. I was hoping I could reciprocate this only to find that it left me feeling completely empty. I wrote the closing verse of the song years later when I was in a similar situation. It was then I realised I was still stuck in the same cycle and I really hadn’t broken that pattern in my life. This is what 'Fade' is about. It’s about all the emotions we go through when someone can’t meet us in the way that we want them to. It’s about losing confidence in ourselves because we break our own promises. I produced the song but then took it to Andrew Wright (Forest Studio) for final production, mixing and mastering. My brother Simon (Token Friend) added his guitar work in the verses and added additional synth in the drop and for me that really was the final piece of the puzzle.
