Q:
Is the brewery kid friendly? Thanks
A:
Yes, when we ate there, I saw a couple of families that had kids. There was indoor and outdoor seating. Enjoy your meal.

A fantastic restaurant and brewery in downtown Sonora that I was fortunate enough to visit as I was in town for a special event to honor my brother. The beer was fantastic as I had an outstanding ale with a pulled pork sandwich that was tender and juicy on a roll that was toasted as well as onion rings.
Customer service by the staff was friendly and professional and sat us on this beautiful table that appeared to be of glossed over redwood which fit with what I would imagine a brewery in Sonora feeling like. I never felt out of place and I didn't go home hungry. Would highly recommend this place for any downtown visitors or people who work in the city and I thank the employees of Sonora brewing for the wonderful experience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jan 4, 20251 check-in
Unfortunately wasn't able to trying this brewery ( )
We came in with a group. Table was available but not bussed. Server said they'd bus it - granted they might have been understaffed - but it took 10+ min, didn't bus. Tried ordering drinks for another 5 minutes, couldn't get a drink.
Just left. It's a bummer, easily a $200+ check altogether.
Love trying different breweries and wasn't able to try here.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Melissa G.Sanger, CA148117Feb 7, 2025

Good beer, amazing loaded fries with chicken nuggets, and decent burgers! The atmosphere is great if you want to hang out downtown with a good view of the street.

Craft beer, brewed at an in-house micro brewery, along with delicious food, in a fun, electric atmosphere, with a great view of South Washington Street, which is the main street in downtown Sonora, CA. Does that sound like a winning combination? You're definitely a winner when you visit Sonora Brewing Company, located in downtown Sonora for a beer, or two... along with a fine meal.
As you enter the restaurant and the main dining room, you'll be treated to a rustic decor and a cozy dining atmosphere. Bottles of practically every kind of condiment line the walls, which makes for convenient dining, and adds to the "brew pub" atmosphere of this fine restaurant.
The micro brewery, along with the bar, is located in the tap room, which is separate from the main dining room. The beer menu is posted above the kitchen and at the bar in the tap room, and the food menu is posted on a laminated paper sheet.
From the "Burgers" section of the menu, I went with a "Hamburger," and made it a cheeseburger by adding a slice of pepper jack cheese. My side of choice was fries, and the menu offered several options for the side dish, but I'm glad I went with the fries, as they were as good as it gets. A pint of in-house brewed "No Name Pale Ale" made for a refreshing appetizer or dessert, whatever way you want to look at it.
The burger began with a half-pound slab of meat, cooked anyway you wanted... I went with medium. The meat patty was large, tender, juicy and grilled to perfection, which made for a great foundation for a delicious burger. The grilled burger patty was placed on a lightly buttered, fresh, toasted bun, and made the perfect bun-to-meat ratio which Sonora Brewing Company nailed to a "tee." You can't see it in the photo, but there was a slice of dill pickle which added to the taste sensation.
The burger was topped with a slab of perfectly melted pepper jack cheese, sliced red onion, sliced tomato, along with both purple and green fancy lettuce. The cheeseburger arrived without mustard, mayonnaise or ketchup, but they were available on the side should you have felt to indulge. I didn't, as this burger was simply "standalone delicious!"
One bite into this amazing cheeseburger, and I was transported to burger nirvana, as this burger was simply amazing. The beef patty was juicy and delicious, and I could actually taste the robust, tangy flavor of the pepperjack cheese. The veggies were chilled, which makes for an epic burger, as the contrast between the warm meat and cheese, with the chilled veggies, makes for a burger that will put of smile on the face for any burger connoisseur. The contrast between warm and cold makes for an unbeatable burger.
The side of fries... where do I begin? The fries were cut to a medium size, dipped in flour - I think - and deep fried to a beautiful, golden brown. The fries were crispy golden brown on the outside, with the light coating of flour adding a bit of "crunch" and depth, and white and tender on the inside. The fries were simply amazing, as they were perfectly fried, without a hint of oil or grease, and just enough salt to add seasoning, but not at all overpowering. It was great that a mountain of fries came with my burger. I simply adored the fries!
The pint of "No Name Pale Ale," which I enjoyed for both an appetizer and dessert was bold, crisp, flavorful and refreshing. The 6.6% alcohol made the afternoon livelier, as my motel was just a half mile walk from the brewery. It was great to look through the glass at the brewery where I could see everything, and know the beer was brewed just feet away from where I was sitting.
Such an amazing cheeseburger, fries and a micro brew! Tuolumne County dining at it's finest is enjoyed at Sonora Brewing Company, located on South Washington Street in downtown Sonora, CA.
Friends... this is fine-star dining!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Sep 30, 2019Previous reviewCraft beer, brewed at an in-house micro brewery, along with delicious food, in a fun, electric atmosphere, with a great view of South Washington Street, which is the main street in downtown Sonora, CA. It's easy to tell this building sports a micro brewery thanks to the interesting mural painted on the side! Sonora Brewing Company is located on Washington Street, in downtown Sonora, CA, in the heart of California's Mother Lode region. There seems to be some confusion, as this building formerly housed Lighthouse Deli and that name appeared on the bill at the end of my meal, complete with the old address of the former deli.
As you enter the restaurant, you'll note in the past, it used to be a deli known as Lighthouse Deli, and many traces of the deli days, including the menu board above the counter. The board is now used to promote daily specials, along with the beer and wine the restaurant serves. Sonora Brewing Company is a full-service restaurant, in that you seat yourself at a table, your server gives you a menu, you make your selection, your order is brought to you, and you pay for your order at the end. Hopefully, you'll leave your server a generous tip.
I flipped the menu over to the second page, and when I saw the "From the Sea" section, I was "hooked" on the "Fish and Chips," which is one of my favorite meals, especially combined with a delicious, in-house-brewed micro beer. Note the menu features a breakfast section, which is very rare for a brew pub, especially in California's gold country.
I truly enjoyed the company of my amazingly friendly server, Lesley, who brings my dinner of "Fish and Chips" to my place at the window table with a smile. Lesley is truly a friendly, efficient server, and a nice person, as she treated me like a member of her family. In addition to her outstanding service, she provided complimentary samples of beer, invited me to climb "Micro Brew Mountain," and enjoyed my many questions, and the many photos I took.
As an aside, my dinner was ready in about 20 minutes after placing my order, which makes for fast service.
From the menu section, "From the Sea," I went with "Fish and Chips," which included three fish fillets, a generous side of fries, cole slaw, along with a little bowl of tartar sauce, for my dipping pleasure. I love every burger that ever graced the planet, but I rarely pass up fish and chips, and I just couldn't help myself on this early Sunday evening.
The signature item of the dish, the fish, is three cod fillets, battered and deep fried to a beautiful, crispy, golden brown, and placed a bed of lettuce, to enhance the already stunning presentation. The batter was fried perfectly, and each fillet featured the right fish-to-batter ration, and the batter enhanced the delicious fish, but didn't overpower the delicate flavor. Outside, each fillet was deep fried to a golden brown, with the white meat inside tender and juicy. There were no bones, thank goodness. The tangy tartar sauce - which is made in-house - made the perfect enhancement for the fish.
The "chips," or fries were perfectly deep fried to a golden brown, and lightly seasoned and salted. Unlike fries at many other restaurants, these "chips" were seasoned and salted just right, and not at all greasy or oily. These fries are as good as fries can get, and the restaurant gives you a generous portion, to satisfy your craving for delicious fries. These fries were so good that I didn't even dip them in ketchup, which is something that I usually do.
I loved the cole slaw - I'm a GIGANTIC - fan of cole slaw, as it rounded out this fine meal.
Sonora Brewing Company definitely knows how to prepare a fine meal of fish, chips and cole slaw. If I had only one word to describe my dinner, I'd use the adjective "perfect," as it describes my dinner in every way. At $11.50 for a perfect dinner that really fills you up... how many ways can you say "bargain?"
Such a fun place to "hang out," enjoy refreshing and delicious in-house crafted beer, fine company, along with outstanding food! Sonora Brewing Company is real asset to downtown Sonora, Tuolumne County, and the California gold country as well. I look forward to many more beers, good times, and amazing food at Sonora Brewing Company, located in downtown Sonora, CA.
This fine restaurant rates 5 stars from me, for both food and service, which is as good as it gets. - May 14, 2024
Sonora Brewing hit the spot on Cinco de Mayo! Luckily, it was not busy around 6 pm or so as we found a table rather quickly. The waitress was kind and responsive to questions we had about the menu. We ordered 2 burgers and 2 Cokes which came out to be around $40 - not bad! This is a place that has a little for everyone. It's quaint but also inviting. We enjoyed our dinner and will come back to drink some of their product.

Friendly wait-staff. Welcoming environment. Accommodated our dog who sat quietly under the table. Delicious appetizers! We had the black bean corn salsa, cheese curds, calamari, and pretzels with beer cheese as well as the hefe. Everything was delicious!

Memorial Day My mom, brother, sister in law and I come to this establishment to eat. Now I get they are short staffed however we were here for 15 minutes waiting to see a server then 3 guys come in and sit at the bar and the server waited on them first. The server came took the order my sister in law asked for a straw, she never came back.
I ordered the boneless chicken wings teriyaki, no flavor, kfc has better chicken wings My brother orders the cheese burger it wasn't cooked it was raw inside.
When this place first opened the food and service was great, what happened?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 27, 2023
