Rated 3 out of 5 by from Comments after 6 months I have had my Whirlpool 1.1 cu ft low profile for about 6 months. We were impressed with the low profile and we only needed limited functions. The unit looks attractive and is easy to use. Disappointed with some things. I am used to having a bright light in my previous hood fan to shine on the stove. The light for shining on the stove is about what you have from a child's night light. Almost useless. The fan works fine but quite noisy. Depending on the height of the cupboards you mount it to be aware how tall the users are. I have no trouble seeing into it - my wife is shorter and has trouble seeing into the unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish and functional (This review was collected as part of a promotion.) We are very happy with our low profile microwave. It looks great in our renovated kitchen. Previously there was not enough space between the full size microwave and the cooktop surface. We don't find that we miss the additional interior height. Also really like the automated door opening and the minimal buttons on the front, which provide for the most used functions. The exhaust fan is very effective. We did have a problem with installation when one of the nuts on the inside top of the unit fell out of place, but the store replaced the microwave and the second one was fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks gorgeous Just installed today. I took advantage of Black Friday and also purchased range and refrigerator. Transformed my kitchen. Fan is very powerful. Before and after photos

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bad Rating Very disappointed with this microwave. The glass tray will not stay on properly. Every time you use it you have to adjust it but it never seems to fit or stay on. We microwaved popcorn the first week we got it and the glass tray shattered and burnt the bottom of the microwave. Now I have a 4 month old microwave with a burn hole in it. I called whirlpool and they said that they weren’t going to do anything so I’m stuck with it now.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks nice, but that's about it. I bought this appliance in May, 2019. It is now December, 2020, and it has stopped heating. Booked a service appt, which never arrived, and am now stuck with a non-working over the stove installed microwave. Of course its warranty expired after 12 months. Cheaper to buy new, which we will do, but not this model, ever again. Avoid the appeal of its appearance, save yourself some $ and effort to install it, and purchase something else.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not very good As a microwave this unit does an ok job. As an exhaust fan it’s straight up garbage. It’s loud as hell even on lowest setting. It leaks air everywhere from exhaust fan which is vented to outside. I siliconed as many leaks as I could on a tip from another owner. While it helped somewhat it’s still does a poor job of exhausting cooking odours. Usually end up cracking a door or window which isn’t that great during winter months. My advice is to stay away from this unit if ur looking for an decent exhaust fan.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good looking appliance, poor exhaust capability installed 16 months ago, the mw is not used much so can't comment on its performance, mainly purchased this unit for for the exhaust purpose and the convenience of have to re heat left overs. Currently the control fan is acting up, it turns on by itself and it turns off by itself, when you want to turn it on it doesn't, un-plugged and plugged it back in seems to fix it for now. The exhaust capability is not very good, it seems to hold a tissue on the vents while the fan is running but, not very good for actually exhausting smoke from cooking. Seems to activate smoke detector regularly due to poor exhaust performance. Would not purchase again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 1-2 Year Lifespan Worked great for the first year, but after that had issues where the microwave doesn't register the door as opened. The light does not come on inside, and the microwave will not start. Pressing the "Open" button will not fix it, I just have to open and close the microwave several times until the light comes on in order to use it. The light under the microwave is very dim, as others have said, but mine also gets burning hot to the touch if left on for more than an hour. I don't turn it on because I'm actually afraid to ruin the machine or start a fire. I loved this microwave but if I could go back I would have never wasted the money.

How high is the inside cavity, from the top of the plate to the top of the oven?

Asked by: Edward
From the top of the rotating tray to the top of the oven is about 6 5/8".

Why is the inside front bottom of unit warm to the touch when we haven't used all day? Haven't used the range either so no heat would have been generated from there.

Asked by: Seville
This unit uses a halogen bulb for the stovetop light that generates a lot of heat. Even if its been on only recently, the residual heat can last for quite a while. If this turns out to be the cause, there are LED G9 replacements available that operate cool and consume a lot less power.

why does the microwave hood fan get full of steam and condensation on the outside while the fan is running and i'm cooking on the stove. is this normal?

Asked by: bernie
Hello Bernie. This is normal. The microwave oven’s cooling fan, which is separate from the vent fan, automatically comes on during microwave oven operation to cool the microwave oven. It may also automatically come on and cycle on and off to cool the microwave oven’s controls while the cooktop below is being used. If moisture is noticed between the glass, allow the microwave door to stand open for approximately 15 minutes to accelerate the dissipation of the moisture. -Whirlpool Central Advisors

We have 20" of clearance between range top and bottom of microwave. Is this sufficient?

Asked by: Dorothy
Just measured mine and that’s exactly what I have too. It is definitely enough.

Our 115V outlet is in the adjacent kitchen cabinet 22 inches from the right hand side of the microwave. The installation manual calls tor the oulet to be in the cabinet above the microwave. Would I able to plug in the microwave using this outlet?

Asked by: Graeme
Our outlet is just above the microwave.  It seems that the length of the plug would be enough for the 22” you need, but it might be close. We love our microwave! Worth moving the plug.
