"This band changed my life. After our set I'm gonna be down front with all of you watching the great NRBQ!" That was Peter Buck, speaking for me, and many of the folks ready for another magic night of Florida NRBQ. Magic things happen when digging Uncle Q, and a short time later Marta, Richard Bean and I were indeed down front along with opening act Baseball Projects Peter Buck, Mike Mills, Steve Wynn and Linda Pitmon cheering on another great night of Terry's gran combo. Buck knows well his Q, singing along on many songs, whooping up the sweet twangs coming from Scott's guitar, and marveling at the spell Klem cast with his "Get a Grip" dance. Where else can you stand six feet from the best keyboard rocker ever and see Terry make it all go round and round? This night was more originals than Boca (One N Only, Keep This Love Goin', Boozoo, Waitin' on My Sweetie Pie, Want You Bad, Green Lights, Get a Grip, We Travel the Spaceways, Sourpuss, as I mostly recall) and great requests played (Florida, When Things Was Cheap, Talk To Me), and Richie's favorite, Fightin' Fightin' Fightin' Back). The band got tighter and swung harder than in Boca Raton (Ain't Got a Home, Get Rhythm). Peter hugged Mike Mills when Terry gave "Everybody, including the Baseball Project, some good advice: Remember your name and address
And telephone number, too
And if, someday, you lose your way
You know just what to do,
Walk up to the kind policeman
The very first one you meet
And simply say, "I’ve lost my way,
I cannot find my street,
But I know my name and address
And telephone number too."
Then he’ll be kind
And help you to find
The dear ones who wait for you.
