Queens of the Stone Age Background

Queens of the Stone Age got its start in 1996 in Palm Desert, California. Originally, the band called itself Gamma Ray. However, a German metal group already had this name, so Queens of the Stone Age was born. This name came from the nickname of Josh Homme's previous band, Kyuss. The band's musical style is influenced by many rock and metal genres, with macho and German rock styles commonly attributed to it. Later albums incorporate electronic and dance music influences. Queens of the Stone Age had their first concert in Seattle, Washington at the OK Hotel on November 20, 1997. Once they released their self-titled album Queens of the Stone Age, they started touring in 1998. They had their big break when they released their second album, Rated R, in 2000 and got the opportunity to open for Foo Fighters, The Smashing Pumpkins and other high-profile bands. An invite for Ozzfest 2000 came shortly after.

I've waited for a long time to see these guys , they didn't disappoint. They came out heavy and finished the same way. Josh is a great front man great interaction with the crowd. These guys are tight and sound incredible. I'd go back and see them again in a heartbeat.

    Best Show Ever

by AH on 4/20/24Scotiabank Centre - Halifax

This is the prime example of a rock show that all others should aspire to; everyone started on time, everyone was having fun, enjoying themselves, and the music was non-stop for 2hrs. QOTSA lives up to their reputation as one of the best live bands of all time, and they don’t need a bunch of theatrics or gimmicks to make it work.
