Flees a marriage to be considered a ghost. I can’t say much more because I don’t like reviews that end up telling me the story of so much of it that I feel I have read the book. Let’s just say that it is an endearing story with many pitfalls avoided.
A truly delightful book with little twists and turns. Started reading the story and from the third page on, the author had my full attention. First time reading Fanny Finch's book and already downloaded another of her stories which is also intriguing. Couldn't put the book down, just kept reading and reading until it was finished.
Great story wonderful story line great characters, beautifully haunting.Elaine is a runaway bride, she hides in the castle that Nelson,s father has inherited, he goes there And on his first day he discovered a beautiful ghost, that seemed all to real. Thank you ❤️
The hint of the supernatural at the beginning really helped capture my attention! Elaine and Nelson were so easy to like and care about, I really enjoyed this book.
Elaine and Nelson Heartfelt romance with a twist, down to earth and believably flawed characters, and witty, entertaining dialogue. Just marvelous. Intense read you will love. This one is a keeper
Wonderfully portrayed! Genius plot! A girl running away from an unwanted arranged marriage. Comes upon the neighboring castle. Then she remembers the story of the ghost that supposedly haunts it. So she becomes the ghost in order to find a temporary refuge.
Thanks to the author for providing this book for my honest review!
He thought she was a ghost and she used it at first to her advantage as she was running away from a unwanted marriage Then they fell in love The characters are realistic and the story intriguing A well written and enjoyable story
Sweet read and maybe more of a 3 1/2 star rating. As there was much mentioned about the ghost, Vanessa, it would have been nice to get a more finis end to her life. Especially as how she died and where she ended up as there was never a body actually put where they placed her memorial. Just my take personally. Otherwise it was a sweet and clean read with a couple epilogues a bit into their future together
A little slow but a charming story that follows Nelson, Marquess of Camden, who goes to a check out a recently inherited castle in Scotland at his father’s request. The castle has a haunting ghost story of a lady pining away for her lover and when Nelson finds a similar looking female in the late lady’s old room, he jumps to a conclusion she is a ghost, supported by the lady herself, Elaine, who is a runaway bride in hiding. Nelson quickly discovers his error, but he does not want to expose the lady whom he intrigues him and needs his help. The story is funny with the mechanics of pretending she is a ghost and providing her food and a bath while he waits for her to reveal she is not a ghost. It comes to a head when a suspicious servant exposes the charade to Elaine’s father who thinks Nelson abducted his daughter, but everything works out when Nelson and Elaine declare their love for each other and give the village the wedding that Elaine denied them when she ran away from her unwanted, previous groom.

Definitely a beautiful and heartfelt journey of adventure, mystery and romance. Excellent writing and definitely an interesting story ending with a wonderful and inspiring ever after. The characters are very interesting and entertaining as well as the story line. Quite interesting how the marquees was able keep Elaine concealed from everyone in his castle and helped her stay secret from her family. Beautiful love story. I absolutely loved and enjoyed reading this amazing book. I absolutely recommend this amazing love journey. Congratulations on your amazing writing skills and imagination.
At first I thought the story as going to be about a ghost . fortunately, that wasn't the case. The description of the characters through dialogue made me feel like I could identify with each of them. A little bit of a story change caused me to be more interested as I read to the end.
Not quite what I expected. I was drawn into the story from the first. It started out a bit slow and I wondered where it was going but once the heroine was introduced, I was hooked. Could hardly put it down. There were a few rough patches that could use a little work but for the most part, very sweet and enjoyable.
I enjoyed every minute of this story. Did not want to put it down. Enjoyed the characters and the town's people very much. Loved the carpenter. Glad the ending sorted everything out in a very satisfactory way, even the ghosts! Didn't want it to end.
Lovely, well written characters, written with deep emotions and a bit of whimsy! The plot is nicely intertwined around various obstacles, with twists and turns aplenty! Well done, Ms. Finch!
Imagine starting a relationship with a ghost. Imagine running from duty into love. Imagine gaining the dukes approval because you stayed true to yourself. Recommended for all readers.
Paranormal with a twist. Two people avoiding being forced to marry find each other by accident. The Duke has to renovate a castle, while his life is what’s really in need of renovation. Then he falls in love with a ghost. Can they make it work? Delightful read.
I could not put this story down and read all of it in one setting . This is a great story, it is funny, sad and just a great read. Sweet and happy ending story. If you love Historical Romance then this book is for you.
A fantastic book and wonderful characters. Even though I was given a copy of this book by the author, it in no way influenced my opinion and this is my honest review.
This is a lovely book with a few twists and turns.
Elaine has run away because she does not want to marry the older man her parents have arranged for her. She hides in a nearby castle.
Nelson Lambert, son of the Duke of Montecliff, travels to Scotland to look at the castle that his family has recently inherited. The characters are likeable and fun. I liked the interaction between both the main characters and the minor ones. Can Lady Elaine escape the wishes of her parents and find happiness?
I enjoyed reading this story kept me interested the whole way through.
