Year-round go-to backcountry shell

This shell is in my backcountry touring pack every day of the ski season, and I also take it on long summer hikes in case a light storm shell is needed. It packs down tiny, weighs very little, and offers solid protection from the elements. It's a bit on the more minimalist end (not a ton of bells and whistles or pockets—just a lot of thought and technology that went into the design). That's exactly what I'm looking for on long outings where I don't want to be lugging around something heavy or bulky but do want the option of protection.

Great features

I am a big fan of this jacket. The unique colour of the Alpenglow is unlike any other jackets on the market this year. The durability and waterproofing is incredible. So far I have worn it for spring skiing, hiking, and to and from work in the rain. I've managed to stay completely warm and dry, while receiving countless compliments. I love the placement and size of the underarm vents and the pull tabs around the hood are super easy when on the go.

LOVE this jacket

I have been waiting for this jacket, in this colour for YEARS. I love this for winter (snow) hiking, fall (rainy) hiking, and fast and light splitboarding tours. It's got pit zips, super lightweight, breathable and it's the most fabulous colour of green you'll ever see. LOOOOVE this jacket, thank you design team!!! 20/10 reccomend.

Stylish but loud

Very good looking and well cut leisure apparel. The only thing that made me knock a star is that it is not a jacket you can wear when you want to sneak up on wildlife or be discreet as it is quite loud. I should have done my research on which materials are loud and which are more quiet before hand. In spite of the (for me) unexpected sound, I decided to keep the jacket because it is so incredibly well cut. Huge amount of bonus points to the brand for offering XXS sizes that look good. I tried a couple of other jackets from different brands as well, and the Beta SL was by far the most flattering. (5'2, 30-32/A-B, 100lb)

Awesome rain jacket

LOVE for the rain! I have two Beta SL's and just love wearing them! It is great how the hood has two ways to adjust compared to the regular Beta. The more tapered fit of the SL also looks much better on me IMO, and it is so light and easy to carry/fold when not worn. The jacket started wetting out a little bit around the 6th heavy use, which means the jacket is a little colder but i'm still dry!

This product is amazing. Very waterproof but breathable so you're not overheating and then freezing. I love the underarm zippers, and the fact that im able to tighten the waist. I do not regret purchasing this, this is the best gear i have.

Made for alpine travel and mountain realities, the Beta SL Jacket – our lightest Beta – is carefully designed to deliver complete waterproof, windproof, breathable protection without sacrificing features or packability. Its next-generation GORETEX ePE membrane is light, thin, strong, and PFC free. C-KNIT backer technology improves comfort and breathability. The helmet-compatible StormHood protects without compromising vision, pit zippers ventilate, and a RECCO reflector can aid in search situations.

This product is free of intentionally added PFAS.

The new ePE membrane technology is lighter and thinner, but just as strong and durable as the materials we used before.   You may notice the face fabric “wetting out” slightly faster in products with ePE membranes, but rest assured this does not affect the waterproofing of the membrane itself.
