Inspired by Japanese technique.

Ceramic artist Ivy Weinglass draws on the Japanese nerikomi technique of layering and marbling different colors of clay to create these swirling, atmospheric clayscapes in planter form. Reminiscent of sandstone cliffs, these planters take weeks—not eons—to make, thank goodness. Try arranging multiple planters at different heights to create your own lush, plant-filled canyon at home. Each planter has a drainage hole in the bottom so water doesn't pool inside for too long.
