Very good breakfasts. You can pick out of similar variety of food each morning. And u can also ask kindly personal of the hotel to make scrambled eggs, omelette or bacon on a frying pan. Rooms are good and spacious. Vathy (city and residents) has bit specific atmosphere. For example its kinda difficult to find out how and when certrain shops and restaurants operate. Usualy there were something like breakfast spots, bakeries, coffee shops wich operated more in the morning and restaurants wich often started operating around 17:00 or 18:00. Safe bet is restaurant Kohili. Restaurant Poseidon is more fish oriented. If u are traveling, u can also visit Agori (restaurant) in Frikes (village) or Kanenas (restaurant) in Stavros (village). Those are very good. If u are traveling there for historical sightseeing keep in mind that there is just a little left from so looooong ago. Yet in my mind, its still is unique feeling to walk through Odysseus's former kingdom. Keep in mind that its kinda rocky island. There is little to no sand on beaches. Most of them are with small rocks and pathes of sand, seeweed and bigger rocks. But the water there is beautifully clear. Because of its ,,rocky" character, the seabed is often soon quite steep. And if u rent a car, it could prove quite difficult for begginers to manage driving there. Roads are very narrow, often in not as good shape. There are many crazy steep parts and crazy sharp bends on those roads (often both at the same time.) Many parts of those roads are also situated very high. So if u do not fancy driving on the narrow road often close to the edge of the cliff, u may actually prefer to stay in southern part of an island and enjoy beaches there or choose to rent maybe motorcycle or bike instead of car.

Traffic is smooth and the roads are well maintained.

Ithaki is one of the best islands in Greece and Vathi is very beautiful! I totally recommend it for summer holidays. I also recommend Gefyri restaurant at Platrithias, is the BEST restaurant in the island, nice place, delicious food and very very friendly and kind staff! Also, I would recommend O Kalioras in Perachori - nice food and view from the terrace. The beaches are beautiful and very very clean - I would recommend Skinos, Filiatro, Minimata, Krovoulia and Aspros Gialos. The summer holidays in Ithaki are for relaxation.

Beautiful town. Lots of great restaurants, bars and coffee shops. As a gay couple Ithaca feels very open, friendly and safe. In the port I can recommend Lalas Bar, newly open gay owned with nice drinks! The best dinner we had on the island was on Myrtia restaurant in the mountains close to Stavros. Top class!

We stayed 3 nights very relaxing Kohli a lovely restaurant , great bohemian cocktail bar in centre.The boat ride and day on Gidaki beach is a wonderful experience . Great ice cream to be had at harbour square.

Vathi is a beautiful bay town with many restaurants, coffee shops and yachts visiting. It is worth it to stay on Ithaca for a week and not just a day trip from Kefalonia. Beautiful island with friendly locals
