Park Avenue Player (A Series of Standalone Novels Book 1) Kindle Edition
It started out like any normal day.
Then the fender bender happened.
The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth.
Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway—one I was excited about.
Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.
Whoops!
Yeah, so I didn’t get the position.
The problem was, I really wanted it. No, I needed it. Anything to get me out of my current career and back into working with kids.
So, even though Hollis LaCroix was as intimidating as he was devastatingly handsome, I went back to see him and begged for a chance.
To my surprise, he gave me a shot taking care of his troubled niece.
At least my attraction to him wouldn’t be able to go anywhere. I wasn’t about to jeopardize my job or the strong bond Hailey and I formed.
But resisting the magnetic pull between us wasn’t that simple. (Then there was our little underwear game—don’t ask.)
We continued to flirt without crossing the line—until it finally happened.
This is the part of the story where we fall in love and live happily ever after, right?
Well, life has a way of throwing some major curveballs.
Ours was one I didn’t see coming.

With that being said, I found this book the same. There is depth to this book in many areas , especially losing a loved one. Going through loss of a loved one and how we all experience it differently. I do not want to give away the plot or spoilers but the essence of the book was so tremendous and strong that it made me write this review, because I found it quite difficult to read poor reviews on a topic that is a part of life . And how we deal with it is personal. Keeland and Ward in my opinion did a wonderful job creating true emotions of the characters feeling loss of a loved one and yet feeling the delicate and and fragile line of loving another. I think it was crafty and well written.
The humor and sexual tension between Hollis and Eloidie was so strong and hot that you could feel the pages sizzling. Now, please, how many authors can do that? Showing their love and trying to hide it in front of Hailey......hilarious!,,, Hailey was perfectly written and smart as a whip ! There was no fooling her! Another well written and truthfully portrayed by the authors.
This book still resonates with me. Days after I read it. I loved the characters. I loved the meaning of love. I loved Huey! The facets of how the book came and pieced itself together was amazing to me. How anyone could give it anything but a 5 star review is beyond me.
Park Avenue Player must be swallowed whole in one gulp. It’s can’t be read politely, cup by cup. Because Pen and Vi are back with a one of a kind hot hot HOLY HELL “clutch your kindle to your chest between each swipe” modern romance.
A hot mind-blowing angsty boomerang of love and loss. When my kindle wasn’t in danger of combusting, I thought it might drown in a sea of sorrow. Unputdownable, passionate and completely consuming. This heart bleed of a romance will sneak up on you, with so many crescendos and twists until it becomes an intoxicating high wire act where you question your sanity—“will I survive this?” And you will, oh my god, and you’ll want so much more from Hollis and Edolie. Park Avenue Player will destroy your sleep in the best and worst ways.
If you’re looking for a simple enemies to lovers cliche-ridden romance, don’t bother. If you want adult contemporary romance with real people and real stakes, Pen and Vi deliver in every scene. Quit reading this review and Buy. The. Book. It’s incredible.
Hollis is mine, though. He had me and Elodie at the first flirt, and it is the BEST EVER! These two. If I have one clear thought, it’s that Hollis LaCroix is THE modern romance god among men, and at the same time a conflicted mess of a man. You can’t look away, and his courtship of Elodie will sweep you away. It's everything I want in a modern forbidden love story. Single dad, nanny, second chance, enemies to lovers, and that's the first thirty pages. This love story will consume you.
The signature Vi and Pen elements are here: The filthy banter, woke friends, modern love in the big city, lipstick and heat, sickness and death, and their trademark angst dialed to eleven.
And there’s Hollis, the sexy FlockHot hero milking an existential brood, and Elodie, the beautiful brilliant maladroit object of his affection, on the cusp of breaking out and living her best life, if only they can just unzip their baggage long enough to just BE together.
If you’re still reading this, I don’t know what else to tell you, except I wish I could read it all over again without knowing anything. Park Avenue Player is a massive emotional stand out in a sea of ordinary.
Hollis and Elodie were meant to be together, it just took them awhile to figure it out. Of course, it started out as a working relationship, but we all knew it would never stay that way!! Their chemistry literally jumped off the pages!!
Individually, Hollis started off as an ass!! He was egotistical and arrogant!!! But, when you find out why he's the way he is, you kinda cut him some slack. He's been hurt by someone he loved, which made him somewhat jaded.
When we meet Elodie she's kinda a hot mess! She's trying to get out of a somewhat dangerous and immoral job, by applying for a nanny position. Something she wants to do and has an educational background in. But, she's nervous and running a little late and winds up in a car accident. And to add to her hot mess, she's in the accident with Hollis - who also happens to be the person she's going to interview with for the nanny job.
They don't have the best "meet cute" around, but it does work for them. They also are surrounded by some wonderful secondary characters that add to their relationship. Hollis's niece, Hailey, is such a breath of fresh air. She's living with Hollis because her mother is dead and her father is in prison. Even with all that going on, she's a pretty happy kid. Loved Hollis's business partner, Addison. She was his best friend and usually the voice of reason in his life. Elodie's best friend, Bree, was also a huge influence in Elodie's life and such a caring person. Of course, there is a character that you're meant not to like, and that's Tobias, Elodie's cheating ex-husband!! He's a real piece of work!!
The story line of this book flowed so smoothly, and right into a plot twist that hit me like a brick wall!!!! I'm not going to give anything away, but it was something I never saw coming!!
This book was amazing, wonderful, all consuming, etc, etc!!!! Like I said, 5 stars are no where near close enough to rate this book!!! I highly recommend this book to EVERYONE!!!!!

I reckon this is my first read of these two lovely authors.
Loved this book. Made me feel all the feels. The wittyness, the playfulness, the love, the heartbreak.
The moment much too soon I understood what the plot twist was and spent the resr of the book with my heart in my toes waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Loved the characters. The way they grew. The interactions.
Loved to see a strong female character that didn't necesarily melt in a puddle of lust or lost all her strenght and spine for a man regardless of how good panty stealing looking he is.
And the cherry on top, who doesn't love a strong fiery tampon wielding aveninging pre-teen princess?
Dismiss the title and jump on the book.
Hollis and Elodie are sometimes insane, certainly endearing, and definitely the most honest a character could be.
Their relationship is fiery, just like it should be, and the twist is really unpredictable.
Once more the work between Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward is amazing.
É bem escrito? Sim!
