Thanks for asking! We do not recommend using Scotchgard(TM) Products on sheepskin. Our Protectors are designed to soak into the material. On an animal skin, it will dry on the surface, and leave a white or cloudy residue. Please contact the manufacturer of your rug for a suggestion of a product they have tested and use on their rug.

No, it will not make the skin or fibers stiff, or change the texture of anything, if used according to the instructions. Lightly spray it on evenly. Try not to over-spray. Better to spray a couple of coats than a single, heavy dousing. Once it dries, if a white, powdery residue remains on the fibers, just lightly wipe it off with a dry cloth.

Dry is best. Could also be sprayed on a damp carpet, but it will take a longer time to dry.

I have always used Scotchguard Carpet protector in my new vehicles, and will continue to do so. Keeps the dirt off, or makes it very easy to vacuum off dirt. Also, gives you time to clean off any spilled liquids, not like where an untreated carpet soaks up the spill immediately. Just try it!

I live in a home with 3 males, a dog and 2 active grand babies. I love having nice things and recently purchased a new area rug for my bedroom; a very expensive, floral bright color area rug. Wonderful product!!

I used this some new rugs I purchased and it worked liked a charm. I sprayed it on the rugs and a couple days later I spilled a drink on one of them, but no stain. Nice Rug & Carpet Protector

I have used other Scotchgard products on my home fabric and upholstery, so when I received the Scotchgard Rug & Carpet Protector spray free from 3M I knew just the rug I would like to try it on. The description on the can says that it works best on new carpets or rugs because it is for protection and blocking stains. I'm sure that the recommendation that it is to be used every six months or after your rug or carpet has been steam cleaned works the best. Since we keep our rugs and carpets vacuumed and clean, I thought of one of my rugs that is in a low traffic area. It's a perfect rug to spot clean since we have an indoor cat that uses it to clean his paws after going outside for a short time. I like how this product blocks stains so that stains don't set in.
