World Explorer Student Plan FAQ

If you are a student enrolled at a US Title IV accredited college or university, you may be eligible for a student plan membership. Your eligibility will be verified through SheerID.
If you are an existing Ancestry member and are also a student enrolled at a US Title IV accredited college or university, you may be eligible for the student discount on our World Explorer Student Plan. You will need to verify your enrollment status, then cancel your current membership and join at the student rate at the end of your current subscription period.
We verify your enrollment status through a third-party service called SheerID. Learn more.
You’ll continue to get access to your World Explorer Student Plan for up to 12 months from the date you subscribed, while the services are available. To remain subscribed, students can re-verify their eligibility once every 12 months, for a maximum of 3 additional 12 month periods. If you cannot re-verify at the end of any 12 month period, you’ll no longer be eligible for World Explorer Student Plan.
