Perfectly finished: the La Mamma Up5 armchair and Up6 footstool by B & B Italia in a lively striped pattern. The designer Gaetano Pesce is everything but minimalistic. For him, it has to be a little more expansive, opulent, curvy and extravagant.
Design
La Mamma by Gaetano Pesce has written design history. The style icon has already been blessed with many names, including "Big Mama" or "Blow Up".
Gaetano Pesce was inspired by the votive statues of prehistoric goddesses of fertility. For him, the sphere symbolizes "the woman who, despite everything, has always been a prisoner of herself."
Material and size
La Mamma by B & B Italia is made from cold stretch polyurethane foam (Bayfit®), which features a beige-orange stripe fabric made from high quality jersey. Sometimes the stripes are horizontal, sometimes diagonal, sometimes vertical. The fabric underside is made of 100% jute and is therefore extremely robust.
The Up5 design armchair is 120 cm wide, 130 cm deep and 103 cm high. The seat height is 42 cm. The associated ball, the Up6 Stool, is connected by a string to the Up 5 Armchair. The Up 6 stool comes to a diameter of 57 cm.
Good to know: La Mamma is part of the Up 2000 series. You can also order the designer armchair online in plain colours - or in different colours.
