These Zippo hand warmers work very well. Be sure and follow the directions that come with the warmer exactly as it's easy to fill but can be easily overfilled. Let me repeat: follow the directions that come with your hand warmer. That's important. I overfilled mine the first time and had to let it evaporate some. With that said it worked well. The directions say use Zippo hand warmer fluid. I couldn't find and so I got Zippo lighter fluid and it worked great. I would guess they are one and the same. It's best to let the unit get up to temperature by leaving it UPRIGHT outside of the pouch for a good 5-10 minutes until it gets almost too hot to touch, then put it in the pouch. It'll stay nice & warm from this point forward. I've occasionally had it lit, then set it down flat only to find that it had extinguished itself. I finally figured out that laying it sideways was sending liquid into the catalyst, quenching it. The catalyst works on vapor, not liquid. Fortunately, when you place it in a pocket, without the bag, it is exposed to limited oxygen so it burns at the exact perfect temperature. Still very hot to the touch. But it is also not to hot that you can't hold it in your hand indefinitely. For most of the time you're using this device, it will be inside an article of clothing like a jacket pocket, shirt pocket (this is the winner here) or even glove (kind of bulky but it gets the job done). This keeps it at the perfect temperature. No need to worry about it being too hot or too cold. 
There is no actual flame, so you can safely place it on a carpet or in your pocket without any risks of open flame. It doesn't even get close to the temperature of an open flame. There is no flame or even embers or sparks, so you can't even light a gas stove with the lit hand warmer, just to tell you how safe it is. Only add as much fuel as you plan to burn - since once it's put in there, it's gone. It either gets burned, or if you remove the cap so it goes out, it will still evaporate. So don't fill it all the way each time unless you plan to use it for a long time. I use them on dog walks in chilly weather and just squirt a little bit so it burns for 20 minutes or so. They can really do away with the need for gloves in cooler outdoor temps

beat the winter cold

We received this Zippo Hand Warmer through the Spark Review Program and are happy to report that it is an excellent product. My husband plans to use it when he visits the shooting range to keep his hands warm and flexible. It was easy to put in working mode and maintains a nice, comfortably warm feel. Highly recommend!

WORKS VERY WELL!!!!

I was really surprised at this hand warmer. It really did stay warm for 6 hours! It was super easy to put the fluid in because it comes with a funnel like container that keeps it from spilling. Great design, Raintree camo. No odor. Comes with nice little bag that has a pull string. Will also go for 12 hours. Slides easily in my pocket. Would make a very nice gift for a hunter.

Small but powerful

I wish I have five of this product so everyone in the family has one especially during winter season, snow days and below zero degree temperature here in North America. The Zippo Hand Warmer I received comes in black as a panther, it looks like a lighter at first because of its small flat sleek design. The packaging comes with a warming black bag made of soft fabric, a 12-hour refillable hand warmer and a filling cup. The warmer need to be filled with Zippo hand warmer fuel or Zippo lighter fluid which is not included and the warmer does not come pre-filled. We could use this during active outdoor activities like enjoying snow tubing, snowboarding and we might try again ice skating with family and friends. It is reusable, eco-friendly and most of all pocket-sized for our convenience, gentle flameless warmth, and made of durable metal construction. I recommend Zippo Hand Warmer to all who do active outdoor activities like sports or their job requires being outdoors for a long time. The best thing about this product is affordability. You saved more with Zippo than using the disposable one.

The best hand warmer for me.

Warms really, really well. Great zippo quality/product. There is no flame, put it back in the pouch it comes with and within 10-20 minutes it's plenty hot and was hot for over the 8 hours I was using it and probably last 12 hours, easily. Keep it with you during this cold weather and you will love how great this hand warmer works. Zippo hand warmer works as advertised and I highly recommend it to anyone whom works or plays outdoors.

I'm really impressed ..found it easy fill & light

This Zippo Hans Warmer 12 hours is a great ideal when your hand get could enough for twelve hours, is really helpful and safe. So far I got hand warmers perishables $1 dollars, good for three or four hours, this one is reusable and good for twelve hours a lot better. I recommend it a lot get today.

Could Aid

Received my Zippo Hand Warmer just in time for a cold front to come thru. Perfect weather to try it out! I am 59 years old and my circulation is not near as good as it used to be... My hands get cold easily... My son and I went to an outdoor rifle range to do a little rifle zeroing in and plinking. Temperature was in the mid to upper 30's. Before leaving home I filled the supplied little measuring tank with the proper amount of Zippo hand warmer fluid, (fluid purchased separately) then poured the measured amount of fluid into the 12 hr. hand warmer, following the included directions. When we got to the range I fired the hand warmer up and put it in its little bag that came with the hand warmer. This thing works beautifully!!! I kept it in my jacket pocket and between shots would get it out and hold it in my hands. It was truly a blessing to have the Zippo Hand Warmer with me! Soon my son was holding it in his hands when it was my turn to shoot, then pass it back to me when he was shooting. This handwarmer is orange in color. The only drawback I could see is that there is no way to turn it off. It has to run out of fuel and it turns itself off then.I would definitely recommend the zippo hand warmer to anyone spending time outdoors on a cold day. It made our outing on a cold day much more enjoyable!

Another Great Product from Zippo

I received this Zippo hand warmer free from Walmart Sparkreviewer. When i got this i thought it was just the warmer but in the package is a refill can and a pouch to carry. This is a really nice gift for the hunter. My husband loves this. It is easy to carry and easy to use. This hand warmer works for 12 hours on one fill. I am going to put this into the car for emergencies during the winter . If i get stranded i will at least have some warmth. I would recommend this for all. This would make a great gift or stocking stuffer.

I like the size of this, but I was disappointed to learn I had to go out to buy lighter fluid. For others, that may not be a big deals but for me, living in the mountains, driving to a store is inconvenient, and in the snow, nearly impossible. Too, I never expected it to get so hot that you have to put it in a bag to keep from burning yourself. It's a lot of trouble just to warm your hands. Maybe out in the snow it or fishing in cold weather it would be really great, but not so much the rest of the time.

Just Okay

When I received the Zippo 12 Hour Hand Warmer, I thought it might be a good idea for outside activities in the winter. This warmer comes with a fill cup that has a spout so you can easily pour lighter fluid into the appropriate compartment. Once you fill the compartment with the fluid, do not try to pour unused fluid back into the lighter fluid container because it will probably spill. The warmer is small enough to fit into your pocket; it's actually smaller than a cell phone. It weighs 2.6 ounces. It comes with a little warming bag so that it is not directly touching your clothing or hands once you have prepared it. It has a two-year warranty. However, my concern comes with the warning at the bottom of the box: Cancer and Reproductive Harm (lists a website). I visited the website and it states this warning must be shown for Californians. I cannot tell if this is just a precautionary statement or if the product is actually harmful.

Unsure about safety

Just reading the instructions and cautions on this one I'm not too sure about using it. It sounds like a safety hazard to me. If you fill it half way with fuel you get 6 hours of heat, or filling it to full will get you 12 hours of heat. The big problem for me is the fact that there is no way to shut it off, and there is no way you would want to walk away and leave it unattended. After reading the instructions and cautions that came with this I haven't even tried it out yet. I will but it will be at a time when I know I'm going to need the extra heat for an extended period of time and won't be needing to walk away from it. It truly is like an overgrown lighter that has been enclosed so there is no open flame and just gets overly hot to the touch. You have a protective sleeve you have to put it in to make sure you don't get burned. The Safety of this is the real issue for me. Even in the protective sleeve I think I would be afraid of it causing something to catch on fire.
