Here are some typical scenarios.
Busy: About 1 month battery life (About 25 - 30 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 2.5 months battery life (About 13 - 16 recorded events per day)
Quiet: About 6 months battery life (about 2 - 5 recorded events per day)

Q: Are there chimes that work that can be placed throughout house when door bell rings so can be heard?
submitted by Angie - 2 months ago
A: Hi Angie. The Nest doorbell (battery) can't use your home's doorbell chime with a wire-free installation.
You can use Google Nest speakers or displays throughout your house to hear a chime when someone rings the doorbell. Simply enable "visitor announcements" in the Google Home app to receive audible alerts on your compatible devices when someone presses the doorbell.

The camera is great but we primarily bought this to have an actual doorbell. Fact is, this wireless doorbell does not ring. Mind boggled. The best you can do on this newer version is get one minor beep on your phone as a notification. So we’re missing visitors.
1 reply from Google Nest Support team - 13 days ago
Thanks for the feedback on your Nest Doorbell (Battery), mlo265937. We’re glad you're enjoying the camera quality but we hear your concern on missing notifications. Here’s some tips to make sure you’re getting timely alerts: Enable push notifications: When enabled, you can receive camera alerts as long as you're signed in to the app. Disable away-only notifications: When this is on, you can only receive camera alerts when your home is set to Away mode so you won't be disturbed by notifications when someone is at home. Regarding needing a chime, the Nest Doorbell (Battery) can be wired to connect to your existing system and ring when pressed. If you need help or have more questions, reach out to our support team anytime.

DO NOT BUY! For this camera to be $200 it’s not work $20. It doesn’t detect movement at all. You literally have to be standing in front of the camera for 30sec for it to notice you. The battery is fine I’m guessing because of the detection issue. I don’t mind charging it, but it’s useless. The only good thing about this camera is the live feature where you can talk & listen.

Hi there. We understand that you're experiencing inconveniences with your Nest Doorbell (Battery) not detecting movement. To resolve this issue, we're sharing some troubleshooting steps to create a new Activity Zone: Home app: Open the Google Home app Google Home app. Tap Favorites or Devices . Select the camera that you want to make an Activity Zone for. Tap More More menu Settings Events Seen Events. Choose + Add a zone. The new zone appears in the middle of the camera’s view. Change the shape of the zone to capture what you want. Turn your phone to go into landscape mode for a full screen of your camera’s view. Make sure the screen rotation setting on your phone is on. Tap and drag inside the zone to move it. Tap and drag any of the 8 dots on the sides of the zone to change its shape. To change the color of the Activity Zone, tap Zone color. You can pick from 4 different colors. Under the camera view, tap on the Zone name to give your zone a descriptive name. Under Event History, you can choose which types of events you want to record in that zone and which notifications you want to receive.

1 reply from Nest Support team - 10 months ago
Good day, pk77! Thanks for sharing your feedback. We hear your concern about your experience with the battery life of your Nest Cam (battery). Battery life can vary depending on factors like recording frequency and video quality. To help maximize your battery life, we recommend checking out our tips in the Google Nest app or at https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611. These include adjusting recording settings and enabling battery saver mode. If the battery issue persists and you have easy access to an outlet, plugging the camera into a power outlet with the included power adapter might be a better fit, which is also required to get 24/7 recording. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Cam (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use, and we suggest using a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately). You can contact your retailer for product availability. For more help, please visit us anytime and we'd be happy to explore further options, here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

It is so much more durable than the Nest Hello doorbell which we had for several years. Installation was relatively quick and painless. I wish the item description would tell you that with the battery version, you don't have access to 24/7 recording even with a subscription to Nest Aware. Overall, the product seems durable and the clarity is nice.

Hi there, Darkfalls13. Thanks for sharing your review of the Nest Doorbell (battery)! We appreciate your feedback. We're glad that you find your doorbell durable, easy to install and has a clear video quality. We always aim to build products that last and we're happy that you're satisfied. I purchased this on sale in store for an unbelievable price and I'm glad I got it. We needed something to deter solicitation and keep an eye on packages. The video quality is really clear and the audio is great. I'm using a third party door mount and the battery life is about 2 weeks. It fully charges in about 3 hours. I like that I can set it to recognize all activity or just people, animals, and packages. Animals in particular since we have skunks and I don't want to be surprised. Overall I'm please. I do wish it came with a separate chime and was more ios compatible but still, 4 stars easy.

This device is NOT user friendly. It goes off all the time! We live on a busy walker friendly street, so I get notifications every few minutes. There is a setting in the app that is supposed to solve this problem but it doesn’t work. It still won’t connect to my husband’s iPad. Another gripe is that the notification for someone walking up to my door is the same sound as someone ringing the doorbell. I basically ignore the sound because it goes off so much. I am going to see if I can trouble shoot any of this, but pretty sure I’m gonna return this.

This doorbell is absolute junk. I would not recommend any future Google products after using this. The battery only made it 18 months before developing a fatal defect where the doorbell would no longer charge or power on. Google support is useless since the item is outside the 1-year warranty period and this developed the fault 18 months in. The only solution provided was "buy another one". Why would I do that? It can't even make it 2 years. Do not waste your time here. Look elsewhere for something better, cheaper, and for a company that will actually back their products.

1 reply from Nest Support team - 2 years ago
Hi there, Cait. Thanks for leaving feedback about the Nest Doorbell (battery), and we’re sorry to hear it stopped working. There are several factors that may cause the doorbell to stop working. We recommend trying the simple steps below that can help: - Check the LED status light of the Nest doorbell. The battery might be dead or not receiving enough power. - If your doorbell is connected to power, check if the wires are securely and properly connected. - Test for power and connect the Nest doorbell with an indoor adapter and a mini USB or a type-C USB cable. - Perform a factory reset following the steps in “Restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell” article at the Google Nest Help Center. If further assistance is required, please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime by visiting the Google Nest Help Page.
