[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I knew KJ Big Block was good lump charcoal, but I cook on my KJ Classic a lot, and I go through some lump. So I have had the opportunity to compare a lot of brands. I've used Royal Oak, Kingsford, Jealous Devil, and several other brands. After trying them all, I have become a loyal KJ Big Block user. It's just better - bigger, denser lumps that burn longer and cleaner. It lights easily and stays lit. It just works.

Spent the last two years contemplating purchasing a Kamado style grill. That was clearly way too long! The family absolutely loves the food, flavor and the ease of use. I purchased the KJ Classic III because of the Divide and Conquer and the SloRoller systems which are a clear cut above the competition. Waited way too long!

Big Block charcoal is the very best charcoal that money can buy ! If you are looking for a clean burning charcoal that will give you consistent results whether you are grilling or barbecuing . You can buy charcoal that is less expensive but you get what you pay for.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Big Block XL Lump Charcoal is a go-to for long smokes and high temps.  It burns really well and will last through an entire 12-hour smoke for a brisket.  It tastes great and does not have any chemical tastes.  It's also great for grilling and burns real hot to get those high temps for pizza.

Long burning and great taste

Love it! Easy to maintain consistent low temps! Dialed my temp in at 220 f.  For a long 18 hour brisket cook. Never had to touch it after that!

The Best!

Big block is my favorite lump Charcoal and what I use all the time. I have found pieces of brick in with the charcoal a couple times so the processing needs to have more attention to detail when bagging the charcoal. With the premium price of lump charcoal the quality and quantity should not be tainted by the weight of bricks, otherwise I would have given five stars.

I've been using K XL Lump for years but never ordered online. Unfortunately the first bad has been mostly fines consistent with other cheaper brands. The second bag hasn't been much better and doubt I'll order on line again.

Frankly, it's not great. I have opened 3 out of the 6 bags I purchased and I have small pieces and dust. Not to mention the inside of the bags are falling apart.
