PARQUET COURTS IN CONCERT:
Brooklyn-based garage punk trio Parquet Courts continue to burn brighter and hotter than just about every other band out there, releasing their third album Sunbathing Animal in 2014 to another round of universal acclaim. The band blends the pointed vocals of post-punk with the shambling playing style of slacker rock, making for a unique sound that's even more compelling at their rip-roaring live shows. With songs like "Donuts Only" and "Disney P.T." clocking in at just over the minute mark, Parquet Courts deliver their message in short but satisfying bursts that stir up serious energy on their high-octane tours.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Parquet Courts was formed in 2011 by a group ofTexans living in Brooklyn. Their jagged yet approachable sound made them a popular live act early on, leading to extensive gigging around the New York Area and a cassette-only 2011 debut album American Specialties. They found a wider audience with 2012 sophomore album Light Up Gold, a blistering slice of post-punk oblivion that landed on numerous year-end lists and merited a re-release in 2013 by indie label What's Your Rupture? On their 2014 release Sunbathing Animals the band unveiled their most ambitious material yet, living up to the heaps of buzz they've generated with a string of rollicking live shows in support of the release.

While beautiful, experienced *terrible* sound quality at Fox Theater Oakland (mezzanine level). We left partway through headliners set…
Beautiful and incredible, second time I’ve seen them and it was perfect
The show was strong and the crowd who came out was enjoying the show. People are still a little wary of indoor shows. All in all it was great for me and my brother to be able to see one of our favorite bands even though they didnt do an encore(Berlin got blurry!).
I had GA tix, and the whole show I was staring at this section of empty cocktail tables right in front of me. I asked an usher how I could improve my GA status and she said that the front was first come, first serve. But this was not the pit. The Wiltern in general sucks for short people, but seeing prime real estate unclaimed infuriating. The band was amazing. The venue needs to improve.
The Fillmore is a great venue. Parquet Courts rocked it! Tickets were a nightmare! Eddie Vedder warned us...
I am a big fan, but the concert was shorter than expected, but well worth going! The venue is great!
These guys are my fav current band. Such incredible energy on stage - great live performance. My only criticism is that, having seen them recently in 2 different locations (Cleveland and DC), they seem to be playing the same set each night. Still an incredible show but a lil more variety would be nice.
Fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun
Amazing venue, such a good atmosphere and a good vibe amongst the people. The cover band was amazing one of the best surprises I've ever had. Parquet courts was everything I expected and then some with really vibrant energy and an amazing setlist with cool remixes and improv in the original songs. Such a great time 10/10
