Champagne Albert Levasseur is a very small grower Champagne house set up by David's grandparents in 1944.
Champagne is traditionally more about what happens in the cave than the vineyard, but David takes a very different approach, and is passionate about exploring the differences in the terroir around his family home. The Noir de Terroir is organically farmed (and certified HVE) Pinot Noir from two small vineyards: L'Olivière in Cuchery (planted 1990) and La Fontinette in Châtillon-sur-Marne (planted 1998).
All from the 2012 vintage only 1,500 bottles in total. Distinctive aroma of asparagus, rhubarb, nectarines and strawberries, some saffron and baking spice, structured with redcurrant fruit. An astounding wine.
