About

Parker McCollum won't be pigeonholed, and that's by design -- the Texas native is all about paving his own road. He spent his summers working on a cattle ranch for his blue-collar grandfather, who also introduced him to country music. Hearing George Strait's "Amarillo by Morning" for the first time, McCollum was struck. "That is still, to this day, one of my favorite songs, favorite melodies of all time," he told Billboard in 2020. By 13, McCollum began writing songs; by 16, he began playing clubs. For inspiration, he turned to Texas troubadours like Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Guy Clark, and James McMurtry, lyrical writers who built rich worlds and characters in the confines of a single song. After graduating from high school, McCollum headed to Austin, Texas, the self-proclaimed "Music Capital of the World." A stint in college didn't last -- McCollum spent more time in class writing songs than paying attention. Dropping out, he made a promise to his father: One day, I'll sign a major record deal.

McCollum worked the red dirt circuit for years, playing empty bars that slowly began filling up. He released his first full-length album, The Limestone Kid, on his own label in 2015. McCollum wrote nine of the 11 tracks himself. The Austin Chronicle said, "It's too early to declare The Limestone Kid debut of the year, but it's already one to beat." His follow-up, the self-released Probably Wrong: Session One, was McCollum's first to hit the Billboard charts. Then, after five years of full-time touring, McCollum made good on his promise, signing with Universal Music Group.

"Pretty Heart," his first single with UMG, went straight to the top of the country charts. It appears on his album, Gold Chain Cowboy, the title reflecting McCollum's desire for success -- a man that's earned enough to wear a gold chain -- with the down-home appeal of living as a simple cowboy, just like his grandfather. Chances are, Parker McCollum will have a little of both. After winning New Male Artist of the Year at the 2022 American Country Music Awards, an exciting future awaits.

    Best concert ever

by Jamee H on 4/23/24White Oak Amphitheatre - Greensboro

I LOVED this concert! I had the best time. And the general admission lawn tickets were very reasonably priced and we were still so close to the stage! I just wish this venue had more concerts planned for the season because I'm already anticipating my next concert here.

Thus artist was great! The venue was nice and a good environment. I wish that the venue allowed guests to bring their own chairs instead of paying $10 for each chair. Overall great experience!

    Good show, horrible crowd

by CarolinaRN on 4/22/24White Oak Amphitheatre - Greensboro

My husband is a Parker fan, so I got him tickets for us to go. I had never heard any of his songs, but I enjoyed his overall performance, because he was a good artist, so I'll pay attention to him more from now on. My issue with his concert was that I just couldn't stand the crowd he attracted. It felt like we were at a drunken Taylor Swift concert based on the mostly young, female crowd (and all the rhinestones, sundresses and rompers with cowboy boots) that were in attendance. The outdoor venue with really lax alcohol regulations really contributed to the feeling that we were at an outside bar that just happened to include live music. The highly inebriated crowd appeared to care more about being seen and getting drunk than listening to the actual concert. We had a hard time concentrating on the music, because the crowd was loud and obnoxious, just having loud conversations with one another. We left early, because we couldn't stand the crowd anymore, and that's coming from someone who's seen the Grateful Dead and Hank Williams, Jr in concert.

    Best Parker show to date!

by Lillee on 4/22/24White Oak Amphitheatre - Greensboro

This was my favorite Parker show and Iā€™ve been to 5! Between the openers Will Jones and Corey kent to the venue it was amazing! Will jones is definitely a new guy to look out for he was amazing and met fans after the show. And Corey and his power house of a voice was spectacular. His band was so fun they interacted so well with the audience and the drummer gave me a set list and drumstick!!! Parker McCollum he gets better everytime I see him. I could tell he was tired but still gave us his all and played a song I gave up on hearing live cuz itā€™s a deeper cut!

    Parker and White Oak

by Tanya on 4/22/24White Oak Amphitheatre - Greensboro

The venue is a really nice place to have an outdoor concert. The seating is excellent. Only downside is there arenā€™t enough bathrooms for 7,000+ people. Parker was good and the sound was as well. Cory was okay. I actually enjoyed Will Jones the most. He came on with just him and his guitar and did a killer set. It was country! I wish heā€™d had enough time to get his band together to join him.

White oak is a great venue. It would be SO much better if there were more bathrooms. We waited in line every single time.

This was the first time being at the White Oak Amphitheater venue in Greensboro and it was amazing. Won free tickets to the show, although being on the lawn it was great views. Parker McCollum put on a heck of a show.
