As a Fairmont Presidents Club member did not expect to be put in one of the smallest rooms on the floor when it seemed that the hotel was virtually empty. There wasn't even a dresser to put clothing, just a few small shelves in the closet! Also, the walls must be paper thin, as I received a complaint about the TV being too loud when I was running it at a volume that I could just hear it. Finally, $88/night just to park the car was quite outrageous. Would never stay again.
This was my ninth stay at the Fairmont. Excellent, as ever.
My family and I had a very nice stay. The location was perfect for us to get around, and the view of the bay was gorgeous. The concierge and front desk were very helpful and courteous.

This was my first stay at a fairmont and was expecting better. The rooms we booked was mostly great and the view from the room beautiful but the service was bad. The shower did have stagnating water but not a huge inconvenience. We were there to celebrate our daughter’s 18th birthday. We arrived and were told to park in the garage by valet and that was totally ok but when the kids were trying to grab some bags from the trunk, the valet was super rude about rushing them to the point they decided not to grab their bags. I arrive at the garage and they were rude there about why I was sent to the garage as it’s valet there too. I arrive at reception and am told the breakfast that is supposed to inclusive in our package was not and had to show information within my booking and took a while and then having to consult with their manager before I was given what I booked and paid. We stayed at The Palace Hotel the previous year to celebrate our daughter’s birthday and that was amazing and she was super excited thinking Fairmont would be even better this year but we were all equally disappointed. We are BayArea locals and don’t need to stay at the hotels but do so for occasions across SF and this was our first time at the Fairmont SF and disappointing compared to other experiences. Would be fantastic if the staff smiled, cared about the customer and treated you well.
Everything was great as usual, but my shower did not drain properly causing me to stand in 3 inches of water while showering (gross.) It also spilled out onto the bathroom floor as it breached the threshold. I forgot to tell front desk. Also, my Accor free coffee’s at the coffee shop were not taken off my bill as promised. 🥹
The hotel is impressively lovely, and full of history. We were able to spend an evening at the Tonga Room, which was a great experience in itself, and also drinks on several occasions in the lobby-area bar. There were always taxis outside to allow travel to any part of the city, and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast via room service one morning. All in all, a wonderful hotel.
Paid direct booking price for suite on 10th floor of tower and found the room/fixtures to be rather shabby with multiple dusty surfaces. Windows overdue for exterior washing. Front desk could not get the key cards correctly assigned when we checked in. Valet (2 men) were so busy talking to each other on Saturday evening, 4/13, that they could not be bothered to open our car doors for the ladies in our group. AccOr requirement to use your gym is ridiculous. I don't want or need their membership, just wanted to work out.
Your bar and restaurant personnel are extremely professional and provided excellent service, but I do believe you need to go through the hotel floors and paint the trim and doors and attend to the chipped-up furniture to bring your hotel standards up.
The stay started out badly when we arrived in our rental car and nobody opened the passenger door for my wife. The location and room were beautiful. The classic design to the lobby and building overall were beautiful. We found that the food was far below average. At the restaurant all three dishes (fish, beef, chicken) were overcooked and tasteless. At the famous Tonga Room, we again found the food overcooked and tasteless.
