A Russian brand with strength of character.
Rubchinskiy is an eponymous brand launched in 2008 by the young designer Gosha Rubchinskiy. He was soon lauded by fashion critics for his collections of menswear which were very different to the usual offerings to be seen in fashion. A photographer and film director as well as a designer, the young man has more than one string to his bow when it comes to expressing his many talents. Watching as Russia opened up to the outside world would act as a source of inspiration for his work. Gosha Rubchinskiy used the codes of hip hop from the 1980s, those of the world of skating and the Soviet period in designing clothes.
Pop aesthetics for a uniquely masculine wardrobe.
One of the biggest strengths of the brand, is to have combined the rigid codes prevalent in Russia with an original masculine world. With his brand, which is not USA-inspired like most other labels in the same universe, Gosha Rubchinskiy really hit it big. Influential stars like Kylie Jenner have helped give this young brand exposure on a global scale. The designer diverts fashion codes before re-appropriating them. Season after season and through its clothing, the brand reinvented itself to amaze the younger generations, fans of streetwear, and gain their loyalty. He also got in contact with dated fashion brands like Fila and Kappa and used their logos - which proved a great success. With its ready-to-wear pieces, the designer wanted, first and foremost, to tell his customers a story.
