JESSY LANZA IN CONCERT:

Jessy Lanza may be a relative newcomer to the electro-R&B game, but if her 2013 debut LP Pull My Hair Back is any indication, fans are in for quite a ride. Combining ethereal vocals and icy synths, Lanza creates a glitchy, minimal sound world [maybe cut “world”? still reads fine] that is simultaneously glacial and smoldering — a tension that unfolds beautifully at her mesmerizing live shows. Fans lucky enough to catch Lanza on her 2014 tour dates will be getting in early on what promises to be an investment with extremely high yields.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Ontario, Lanza received a music degree from Montreal's Concordia University before going on to pursue a master's in musicology. Deciding she would rather make music than write about it, she left school, linking up with fellow Ontario native Jeremy Greenspan (Junior Boys) to begin writing and recording an album. The result was 2013's hypnotic Pull My Hair Back, an instant hit with critics for its infinitely detailed production and lush, evocative textures. The album's warm reception led to her first shows in 2013, with more highly anticipated tour dates scheduled for 2014.
