• What are the benefits of the hemp ingredients used in the Oil Infusion?

  Our Oil Infusion contains our unique Hemp Seed Oil blend of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and protein – all of which benefit your skin. Whether your focus is anti-ageing, breakouts, dryness, or an overall glow, no skin routine is complete without hemp seed oil.

  Hemp seed has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-aging properties that can help to slow the effects of ageing, dullness, and dryness. Hemp seed also helps moderate skin oil production. This ensures your skin remains supple without getting clogged. The combination of Omega-6 and Omega-3 helps promote the growth of new cells which helps calm skin irritation. Hemp seed oil is able to soothe irritation while helping your skin retain moisture.

• Where do I use the Oil Infusion in my routine?

  The Oil Infusion is a moisturising Oil Serum. It can be used as both a booster serum in your routine or as a face oil and/or moisturiser in the final step of your routine.

  This oil can be used both before or after a normal moisturiser. We recommend applying 2-3 drops and patting it into your skin.

  For dry skin types, our Oil Infusion can also be mixed with your moisturiser for an intensely moisturising experience.

• Is it fragrance-free, Vegan, Cruelty free and silicone free ?

  Our Oil Infusion is artificial fragrance free and free from silicones, parabens, TEA, triclosan, mineral oil, MEA/DEA, animal derivatives, formaldehyde, heavy metals, propylene glyco.

  Our Oil Infusion is vegan, gluten free and not tested on animals.

• Is the Oil Infusion suitable for all skin types?

  Yes, the Oil Infusion has been dermatologically tested on human skin and certified with a 5-star skin rating. It has been certified safe for all skin types including sensitive skin.

  However, if you have sensitive skin concerns, we recommend checking the ingredients carefully, always patch testing all products and consulting with your doctor if you have any medical concerns.

• Is the Oil Infusion safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding?

  Yes, it is safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you have concerns, we always recommend you consult with your doctor or pharmacist and show them the ingredient list.

• Is the packaging recyclable and does it come with a refill?

  Yes, we offer a full packaging recycle program you can access here. We provide you with return labels to send your packaging back to us and we recycle your packaging through the TerraCycle program to ensure it is properly recycled. Alternatively, you can take any skincare packaging to any Mecca Store and they will place it in their TerraCycle recycling bins for you.

  Yes, we are pleased to advise that our Oil Infusion does come with a refill option which you can purchase online. 

• What is the purpose of face oil?

  The purpose of face oil is to nourish your skin while also providing a protective barrier that locks in moisture into the epidermis to keep it looking plump and supple. 

  Botanical face oils are brimming with antioxidants, omega fatty acids (omega-3 and omega-6 in particular), and phytochemicals. These offer a range of benefits including balancing oil production, boosting moisture levels, strengthening the skin barrier, minimising signs of ageing and reducing inflammation and redness. 

  Lightweight face oils are more easily absorbed into the skin than their heavier counterparts, allowing their beneficial properties to penetrate deep into the skin's layers for maximum effectiveness.

• How often should I use face oil?

  How often you use a face oil really depends on your skin type and individual concerns. If you have dry skin, for example, may benefit from applying face oil daily while other skin types 

  How frequently you use face oil in your routine can also be influenced by seasonal changes. 

  For example, during colder and drier months, adding face oil into your daily routine after moisturising can help boost your skin's resilience against common symptoms of dryness and flaky patches. As the weather warms up, you might not need to use it as frequently.

  Generally, it is recommended to use face oil once or twice a day, either in the morning or at night following the application of serum and moisturiser; if you are using both.

• How much face oil should you use?

  When it comes to face oils, a little goes a long way! The amount of face oil you should use depends on the specific product and your skin's needs. 

  When using Vela Days Oil Infusion Face Oil, we recommend applying 3-4 drops of the face oil to cover the area of your face, neck, and décolletage.

• Can face oil replace moisturiser?

  The answer to whether face oil can replace moisturiser is both yes and no, as it really depends on your skin type. 

  Our Oil Infusion was scientifically formulated to function as a moisturising face oil hybrid as it contains potent active ingredients that are held in place by our moisturising oils. 

  This means it can either act as standalone face oil (to apply with a moisturiser) or you replace your moisturiser if you wish.

• Do you put face oil on before or after moisturiser?

  Our Oil Infusion has been scientifically designed to be used both before or after a moisturiser. 

  The versatile formula is lightweight enough to go before your moisturiser so the active ingredients can deeply penetrate your skin. 

  Otherwise, you can also apply it over the top of your moisturiser to lock in all the nutrients and enjoy an extra glow. 

  As a general rule, always apply face oil as the last step in your routine at night and the step before sunscreen (the final step) in your morning routine.

• Can I mix face oil with moisturiser?

  Yes, if you want to supercharge your moisturiser with brightening actives and nourishing plant oils we highly recommend you able 1-2 pumps of the Oil Infusion into your face or body moisturiser for a huge glow boost. 

  If you have a dry or combination skin type using both an oil and moisturiser simultaneously can also help address dry patches on the cheeks and excess oil in the t-zone.

• Are face oils good for oily skin?

  It depends on the face oil. Certain botanical oils can be great for oily skin as they help regulate and balance oil production. 

  The skin produces excess sebum to compensate for the lack of moisture, which leads to oily skin and a shiny visage. However, when you use a lightweight, non-comedogenic face oil, the skin recognises the presence of oil which stops the sebaceous glands from going into overdrive producing excess sebum. The result? Oil production is naturally regulated and the skin becomes balanced. 

  Not all oils are beneficial for oily, congested skin, though. Avoid those with a high comedogenic rating as these oils will clog pores and cause more breakouts and congestion.

• Can face oil dry out skin?

  Face oils are formulated to promote healthy moisture levels in the skin, not dry the skin out.

  While a face oil won’t dry out the skin, to be a really effective moisturiser, the face oil formula needs to have both occlusive and humectant properties.

  Occulsives play the role of sealing moisture into the skin while humectant properties work to draw the moisture to the surface of the skin in the first place. 

  So, if you are using a pure botanical oil with no humectant properties and your skin is already dehydrated (lacking moisture) the oil isn’t necessarily adding moisture to the skin. 
  This is why a careful blend of oils infused with supportive active ingredients can deliver the best moisturising results. The Oil Infusion is a deeply hydrating face oil formulated with 14 of the most nutrient-rich botanical oils and seven unique brightening actives. Oil Infusion works to improve skin hydration, plump the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and boost the skin's natural protective barrier.

• Does face oil cause pimples?

  Not necessarily. Certain face oils can reduce breakouts and pimples by promoting healthy levels of moisture in the skin which, in turn, balances oil production. Without excess oil, the pores are less likely to become clogged with sebum and dead skin cells - the root cause of acne and pimples.  

  On the other hand, some face oils have a high comedogenic rating, which means they are heavy and likely to clog pores. This type of oil can cause pimples and congestion.

• Can you wear face oil under makeup?

  Yes, you can wear face oil under makeup. The key is to allow enough time for the face oil to completely absorb into the skin before applying makeup; otherwise, it will smudge and slide around your face.

• Can you mix face oil with foundation?

  Yes, you can. The results may vary, depending on your choice of oil and foundation, but by adding oil to your foundation it will make it easier to blend for a dewy, natural look. 

  Thanks to the oil, you’ll also add *bonus* nutrients to your foundation and use less product than usual. If you favour a matte finish, just apply a dusting of translucent powder.

• Can you use face oil and serum together?

  Yes, face oils and serums are great team players, so don’t be afraid to mix them together. Combining both can boost the overall results, for example, you may pair an antioxidant serum for brightening skin with a hydration-boosting face oil.

• Do you put face oil on before sunscreen?

  Yes, face oil should be applied before sunscreen. Sunscreen should always be the final step in your morning routine. Be sure to give the oil time to be fully absorbed into the skin before applying your sunscreen to ensure the maximum efficiency of the sunscreen. 

  Always apply the products separately rather than combining them as the face oil can dilute the potency of your sunscreen.
