You can sit up comfortably in bed thanks to the high headboard – just prop some pillows behind your back and you will have a comfortable place to read or watch TV.

This versatile bed frame will look great with your choice of textiles and bedroom furniture.

Adjustable bed sides allow you to use mattresses of different thicknesses.

☺️RaymondLoved the bed!5
Malm QueenVictoriaEasy to build; suggested two people but did it on my own and it did not take as long to put tog as I thought. Maybe two hours to build it with multitasking around the house. It's actually very sturdy and well built. Had also got the drawers for this bed and I absolutely love them. I hadn't noticed at the store that they weren't attached to the bed and after I built mine I can see why and it's pretty nice. 5
Excellent product. Well designed. Instructions very good.RobertOverall very satisfied. This was second purchase5
AffordableSophiaI've already bought 2 Malm beds with under drawers. Online purchase was a cheaper and more convenient way than store pickup plus arranging delivery for large items. Had to set up a Task Rabbit for the assembly. It does make a bit of a squeaky sound where the beams are.5
Malm Bed with DrawersCarolynGood value, good assembly result, great storage options5
Lasts but not perfectMerylI bought my Malm bed with drawers eight years ago (yes, and just writing my review now). I'd start with, it's lasted through two moves, one of which was long distance, and the platform itself has been great and long-lasting. Now the catches. The drawers under the bed are not nearly so durable. Two of the drawers on mine broker (the wheels) which marks to my mind a weakness in their design. I've replaced them (finally) but I will say that IKEA no longer makes the color I originally bought so I'm going to be doing some restaining. Second, the veneer has been pulling away on one side of the bed, slowly, for years. It's not great. Be mindful about these details. And, it certainly isn't the easiest piece of IKEA furniture I've ever put together, but it's not the hardest one, either. Definitely do this with a friend, if only to help stabilize the different pieces, unless you have really long arms.4
Bed frameMonicaJust love it!5
Good bedKyraBought this for my son who's getting his own place.. this replaces the full size that he's had for 17 yrs. Previous bed lasted & held up well. Very happy with purchasing again.5
Good bed, storage drawers meh!CaroleWe currently have 3 Malm beds in our home, 2 king, one full, 2 with drawers, one without. We used to have a queen in one of our previous homes too. I wish the drawers were easier to pull out when filled & wish the bed had some sort of "top", as the top is effectively open & of course because of that collects, dust, lint, whatever, on top of whatever items you keep in the drawer, so you have to keep whatever is in the drawer covered to minimize the debris that collects over time.4
Product qualityKehindeThe bed is sturdy and looks really nice. Except that assembly took a while. Had to watch a youtube video for additional guidance.5

Its ok butJairoThe only issue is the luroy in the full bed, very tricky to put on the bed.5
Great bed for the money.VGreat bed for the money.5
Nice and space saver bed!DianaWe bought this bed ten years ago, and it’s been a great purchase. The bed is strong, and when I say strong, believe me, we have five children, and they like to jump into the bed with us. The drawers are easier to open and close, a lot of space. I’m thinking now of replacing it with a beige color!! I truly recommend it!5
NoisyAnthonyIt doesn't matter what type of slats you use, this thing will creak.1
Really wanted to love this but...WaverlyWe have broken 2 of these bed frames within the last year. After it broke the first time, I wanted to give it a second chance so we bought another one. Both of them broke because the metal bar that runs down the middle literally ripped out of the base... And they broke from us getting in and out of bed (which you would think would be typical wear and tear). We aren't large people, although I'm not sure if it's the king-sized mattress we have that makes it hard for the frame to support its weight over time...? Regardless, I'm disappointed that we've spent ~$1000 total on 2 bed frames that couldn't hold up. It's a great design and I wanted to love it because of that, but I would not recommend buying this product. I think it's made too cheaply to justify spending ~$500 on it.2
Malm bedNicoleWe changed all our beds to this bed. Great quality for the price5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA, we believe that sourced in responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet attached to things like particleboard to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak, and beech, and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
