Belltown, Seattle: Popular Artsy Neighborhood just North of Downtown

Located just a few blocks north of downtown Seattle, Belltown is the city’s most densely populated neighborhood and a great place to experience the spirit of the city. Naturally, that involves coffee (Seattle ranked behind only Portland on Travel + Leisure's 2014 list of America's Best Coffee Cities). In Belltown, you’ll find top-notch coffee shops such as Street Bean Coffee, a nonprofit space serving sustainable, locally roasted coffee and artisan pastries. Mixed in with the neighborhood’s java dispensaries and trendy restaurants are an array of art galleries.

About a half mile south is Pike Place Market, one of Seattle's most renowned attractions. Locals and out-of-towners alike flock to this semi-open-air marketplace to shop for fresh produce, fish, flowers, and meat. Come early in the morning to see the market’s fishmongers do what they're famous for: tossing the day’s catch back and forth.

A Home Away from Homw The Warwick Seattle was in the midst of renovations. I appreciated the updated marble bathroom, super luxe bed and bedding, and the room size. What impressed me the most was the concerted effort of hotel staff to provide above average service. The front desk made sure I had everything I needed. I especially loved how the front desk and security said "Welcome Back" each time I reentered the hotel. It really made me feel "seen" and recognized.

Sports Trip We stayed down there for 3 nights on a weekend. It was a sports trip where we took in a Husky and Hawks game. The hotel is in a great location. Close to Pike Place, ferry terminal Lumen field. The field was about a 20-minute walk but fine for us. We were close to nice restaurants and coffee shops. The hotel was clean with a small gym and pool. The biggest issue was the cost of parking. I was quoted $150 US for three nights. I parked for about 4 hours and moved my vehicle to a more reasonable parkade. I was charged $18 for those 4 hours. I parked in a parkade about 3 blocks away, so very close. Before travelling, learn of parkade in the area before you get there that way you won't feel compelled to use the hotel parkade. Overall, it's a good place. We place just over $1000 for three nights for four people so not too bad.

Misleading. Hidden Fees. Hidden fees! We were charged an additional $95 dollars in 'resort fees', which was supposedly for the pool which we didn't even use (couldn't even if we wanted to since I'm heavily pregnant). When we asked the front desk about this, they were unnecessarily rude to us. Parking was $55 a day. And the 'high speed internet' was a joke, barely 1 bar all night unless you wanted to pay an additional $7 per day for faster.
