by Joe on 5/24/22Mercury Lounge - New YorkGreat songs and great playing. Lia Metcalf has pipes rarely heard in alternative music - maybe anywhere outside of Broadway. Yet, she doesn't overplay her stage presence. She just sings, and the band just plays with little histrionics. Yet, together they whip up a combustible and driving force. The one heartbreak came as it was clear they were torn over beng in NYC for the first time, with no time on their tour to see any of it. I wanted to shout "you'll be back" and I have no doubt.
