Worth the Hype

A lot of books that booktok promotes are overhyped, but this is definitely one that deserves the hype it gets! The writing is so descriptive and whimsical; there's so much vivid imagery which makes you feel almost as if you're really there living the experience alongside the characters. The world-building is exceptional. The storyline itself is amazing, the writing style captivating, and overall this book honestly exceeded my expectations

Magic and mystery

This was an easy read and I enjoyed the mystery and magic of Caraval. It’s a little more young adult so I gave it 4/5 stars. I usually like a little more depth. I will definitely continue reading the series and see how the next mystery in book 2 unfolds.
Pretentious

It tried too hard to be extravagant and descriptive without a proper flow, like reading a cheap knock off of an 18th century gothic novel. I could not finish it, maybe I'm finally too old for young adult novels :(
