FAQ's

Does the griddle require seasoning?

This griddle is enameled, and therefore does not require seasoning like traditional raw cast iron.

Why is the interior black?

The interior is not raw cast iron, but is coated in a matte black enamel, which is specially formulated for searing and browning.

How do I clean this griddle?

Although it may be washed in the dishwasher, hand washing is recommended to preserve the exterior enamel's shine and the interior enamel's natural patina. The patina enhances cooking results and should not be scrubbed off.

Great griddle -- will get alot of use!

I ordered the 9.5 griddle pan in flame on Sunday and received it today! I could not be happier. It is beautiful (although I pondered long and hard bout the color and might need to order another one in a different color!). I used it tonight for Mahi Mahi burgers and they came out really well and did not stick at all. I anticipate that I wlll get alot of use out of this. My only negative comment is that it has the tiniest of chips on it near one handle. It is so small that it is not that discernable but given the price and brand reputation, I expected perfection. It is perfect size for two people -- I could have fit a third Mahi burger on it.

Best Griddle - Please stop Non-Stick Reviews!

Wonderful griddle! Please STOP writing reviews saying its not Non-Stick. You are not helping anyone. I've cooked on Le Creuset enameled cast iron for 10 years+ and find its very easy to clean! Per the instructions: Let the pan cool down after cooking! I leave mine on the stove. When its cool, if there is food stuck on pan, I put some water in pan, with or without a little dish soap, let soak on counter for a while - 15-30 min's, and Voila! Use a gentle sponge and it wipes away effortlessly. Do not put hot pan in sink and run water over it, do not "submerge" pan into sink full of water. Do NOT cook on "High" temperature, it ruins pan and food, and likely would be a mess to clean up. Instructions tell you to cook on Low to Medium temperatures, its really all you need! The beauty of these pans is the cast iron gets plenty hot enough that its not necessary to turn burner to "High". Even when searing steaks! When searing meat, sometimes you may end up with crusty bits on pan. If necessary, LC sells a cleaning brush and a liquid cleanser. I only need to use those a few times a year, as usually things wipe away easily with regular sponge, dishsoap, but the brush and cleanser help when needed. This griddle is wonderful to use, can fry egg, sear fish, cook vegetables, in addition to regular griddle food like pancakes, bacon, grilled cheese sandwiches IF you want Non-Stick cookware, Le Creuset makes a variety of Non-Stick cookware. So please look that up instead of submitting reviews that miss the point!!! Their enameled cast iron griddle/grill pans are fabulous and super easy to clean!!

I bought this exclusively for making french toast on a ceramic stovetop and it's perfect. Yes, it's small but perfect for what I need it for. I don't get the complaints about it not being nonstick. It says right in the description that it's not. I actually prefer pans without a nonstick coating since many nonstick coatings are toxic. This griddle is perfect for my needs and the quality is what you would expect from Le Creuset.

It drives me crazy when people don't read the description of a product and then rate it poorly based on things it was never intended to be. The matte black enameled interior can be washed with soap and water, but it is NOT nonstick. This works great for a countertop or toaster oven. We have a Breville smart oven and this fits and allows us to roast vegetables & sausages and make great grilled cheese. You will have to wash it after but after a few minutes soak with hot soapy water it's easy to do a quick scrub.

No heat distribution

This pan is the worst pan I've ever owned. It does not distribute the heat. My food is blacked in the center of the pan, and raw around the outside. I contacted Le Creuset and their only offer to me was to send me a replacement of the exact same product, at my expense. I am extremely disappointed to lose trust in Le Creuset, who had always been my go-to for premium quality. And now I'm stuck with this $100 doorstop.

Not recommended

Was a gift. Is terrible. Everything sticks; even from first use. Followed directions, as we always do for our le Creuset products. Overall, we are extremely disappointed with any of le Creuset's "non-stick" products now only purchase the cast iron enamel products. Other products non-stick products on the market are so much better (Made In for one) than anything leCreuset makes. Further, Customer Service did not respond, and we attempted to return to the leCreuset store this was purchased at. They would not take it back. Don't waste your money on this product. Am donating to local resale store. Perhaps someone else might have better luck with this product. BTW, we've tried posting this review twice before...leCreuset didn't place it on the product reviews. Tells you something there...

Wish I could review but item was cancelled after I ordered.

It's ironic I'm asked to review an item I ordered for a gift and then received an auto generated email days later that the item was cancelled as it was out of stock. Kinda put a damper on the surprise gift since I couldn't order in time for arrival of the holiday. No response to my complaint either. Found it somewhere else and had fab service so you may want to rethink ordering direct from Le Creuset. I am.

Terrible product..it's not non stick!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was very excited to receive it thought I would make my daughter and husband some pancakes on it that was a terrible morning everything stuck to the griddle I tried butter everything still stuck to the griddle I washed it, I tried it again with French toast it's still stuck. I don't know if I received a bad one. I wanted it to be great! I'm collecting pieces .
