It said nothing about that on the sheet that comes with the pans. It tells you how to wash them (dish soap), what to use on them (no metal utensils), says they can go in the dishwasher but they recommend handwashing them. No mention of spraying them with anything before using.

HI it says its non stick and that is true BUT due to the darkness of the pans you are better off using parchment paper. They sell it in rolls at the dollar store and in my opinion I find it works much better. Also if sprayed i would fear that they would get a stickie build up regardless of how quickly you clean them. ***FDNY has a great trick for getting burnt on food off of baking sheets, pots and pans. When ready to wash Line the bottom with a Laundry Dryer Sheet or sheets depending on the size you need to cover. Put extremely hot water and a touch of DAWN dish detergent . Leave to soak over night. Rinse in the am and its beautiful. My dad was a NYC firefighter and he has all these tips they use and its worked for me over the years.

does the cookie sheet need to be sprayed with canola, olive or other oil before each use?

Hi Kathy: I just reviewed this and forgot to put those specifications as did Walmart on the site. I see you asked this a while back. If interested or for others with the same question I measured and then saw in comparison to similar pans they are all equal in size meaning the smalls across the board  of each company are the same, the meds and large. ***Unless its noted for large ovens and such. Here are the dimensions. Mainstays Cookie Sheet Set, 3 Pieces Small Size Measures:13×9, Medium Size Measures:15×10, Large Size Measures:17×11 each has a lip or depth of a bit less than 1/2”. Sue M

The instructions that came with the pans said nothing about avoiding any temperatures with them.

The Mainstays 3 piece Cookie Sheet Set is a welcome addition to my home! The sheets are well coated with a non-stick surface that makes clean up a breeze and, it also helps with browning. The only drawback for me was the largest one did not fit in my oven! The other two fit nicely and were a breeze to clean.

EASY TO USE AND EASY TO CLEAN!

This trio of cookie sheets will be invaluable once we are able to gather together again.We will be returning to our usual church activities including the favorite, once a month dinner just for seniors, which will put these sheets to full usage at the same time. In the meantime, I will be using them for family. Comfort foods and basic meals being cooked one sheet after the other. This is so convenient. No total washing of a cookie sheet just to start the next phase of a meal. The largest sheet had to be placed across the shelf. It is that large. The next in size can go straight into the oven. I used that to brown some meatballs. Washing these sheets is a breeze. Nothing sticks and no need to use any sprays. 
They stack perfectly, so there is no extra space being used for storage. I appreciate that these can be used for jelly rolls and at Christmas, that means a yule log type cake.

So very convenient

Wow… these Mainstays Cookie Sheets are great! They are a very sturdy quality. They are not flimsy or bendable like some cheap pans are. They have excellent non-stick finishing on both the front and back of each pan. When I took the food out of the oven it was just sliding around on the pan and I didn't even use any type of grease. When I went to wash them they cleaned up slick as a whistle. You didn't have to scrub at all or use any type of scrubber. They cleaned up perfectly with just a washrag. It's important that the back has that great finish too. Otherwise they get all scorched and hard to clean. These pans have a lifetime warranty too! Just return them with the receipt and they will gladly replace it or give you your money back. How can you go wrong?!!! 
 There are 3 super sizes. One is 13 x 9 in., 15 x 10 in., and 17 x 11 in. That lends itself to so many types of uses. I have never had a small cookie sheet and have just had to use a round pizza pan for small baking. Well now I do and I am so excited. I guess I never realized they made small ones. The pans are deep enough to cook bar type cookies on also. These pans are also dishwasher safe. I can't say enough good things about them. I am thrilled to have them and would highly recommend them

Baked Food Just Slides Right Off!

The Mainstays 3-piece cookie sheet set is versatile and used for most all cooking. We personally line all cookie sheets for protection of the cookie sheet and less clean-up prior to using. We use the large cookie sheet for meats, and the smaller two for vegetables, breads, and deserts. 

The cookie sheets are non-stick and made in the USA. Although the cookie sheet's are dishwasher safe, it is recommended to hand-wash them; which, is what we prefer to do anyway.

Cookie Sheets in Every Size for Every Dish

Every kitchen needs cookie sheets! They are incredibly useful and versatile. The fact that there are many different sizes is great. I used the smallest one for roasting carrots for dinner and used the largest one for making cookies. Neither had anything stuck to it after so clean up was super easy. They are flat so they are easy to store. I love the fact that you don't need to spray them with anything for them to not stick. They can be used for so many different tasks in the kitchen. I love Mainstays products and have always been satisfied with their quality. These certainly didn't disappoint quality wise. Thanks Mainstays! Highly recommend!

Must have for any kitchen!

These are great! If you have ever had issues with cookies or pizza sticking to the pan, then get these pans and you will not have that issue again. I cooked pizza and it slid off like melted butter. I didn't have to use any non stick spray. The pan was super easy to clean too afterwards. No scrubbing needed.

Non stick is amazing

I received the Mainstays Cookie Sheet Set, 3 pieces. Every kitchen with a full size oven needs this set. Whether you are actually baking cookies or heating up a frozen dinner, cookie sheets are needed. This set comes with three different size pans. The sizes are 13" x 9", 15" X 10", and 17" x 11". This is the actual baking size of the pans. By that I mean, the length does not include the handle in the measurements. To include the length with the handles, add two inches. That is one inch for each side because each handle is one inch. Something I really like about these pans, is that the metal is a little darker. I think this allows what ever you are baking to absorb more heat instead of reflecting it. I say this from experience baking cookies. The lighter, shinier pans seem to reflect heat it and it takes longer for baking. The pans are made out of steel. They are dishwasher safe although, hand washing is recommended. I totally agree with the hand washing and dry them promptly. Overnight soaking and not drying them promptly can cause rust.

Mainstays Cookie Sheet Set

OMG, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this set of Cookie Sheets. And let me tell you why. I am a very impatient baker/cooker. And it drives me nuts not being able to bake all the cookies in one go. 

Inevitably I feel like the cookie sheet gets hotter and I hate the process of having to bake a batch of cookies, wait for them to cool, take them off, put more balls of cookie dough on, and throw it all back in the oven without also burning my fingers. And then repeat that process AGAIN! 

So, if that sounds like you, then these are perfect. I made sugar cookies with my daughter the other day, because it was a school assignment. Working from home and homeschooling your 7 year old during Coronavirus among everything else is a lot.

These cookie sheets were awesome. My daughter and I used the largest one first and put the cookie dough on them and popped them in the oven. With only a 9 minute cooking time, we filled up the next 2 smaller sheets.

When the first one came out, I put it on the stove to cool and was able to fit BOTH of the smaller sheets on the same rack. Done! So very efficient, minus washing all 3 sheets but we were able to bond and make cookies, but then both move on to other activities and enjoy the cookies very quickly.

Yay! I would highly recommend this set!

Great for Cookies!!!

Mainstay Cookie Sheet Set, 3 pieces
Today I made 1 dozen Chocolate Chip cookies and 2 dozen Reece's Peanut-butter Cup Cookies all on the Mainstay Cookie Sheet Set, 3 pieces. I noticed that these pans are darker than the ones I have and therefore may cook more thoroughly and quicker. I adjusted my ovens temperature as you are instructed to do for darker pans and also decreased the time in the oven all the while keeping a good eye on what you are cooking. They claim they are non stick pans which I did find to be true but at a cost and that you do not have to put cooking spray, parchment paper or foil. Just drop your cookies down and you're good to go. I followed the directions and adjusted the racks in the over to accommodate the fact that I had 3 sheets and you don't want any too close the a top or bottom heating element. I set the timer which was under 10 and 8 minutes and kept a watch in between but had to remove well before the time to avoid them being burnt on the Bottoms worse than they were. As for me even when Cooled they tasted too cookie doughish, My hubby was a so happy, gooie on the inside and burnt bottoms. I was very happy with how they looked on the top but the bottom was kind of burnt on each one from each cookie sheet. That was a super big disappointment. i will try to make a lasagna and use this as a crisping element. I think besides helping with the weight of the Lasagna pan it will crips the bottom unlike other times. Over all i honestly can not give this more than 3 stars.

Not impressed

These mainstays cookie sheets have some great features but a few not so great. Read ON! 
The sizes are terrific because they nest inside each other for easy storage and take up very little space. The sizes are 17x11, 15x10, and 13x9 giving you a good assortment for jellyrolls cookies or baking anything a flat pan is needed. 
The nonstick surface is really nice and it really is nonstick. I like to roast potato wedges and i cant tell you how hard it is to scrape them off an un-coated pan. These pans were slick and easy and the potatoes just slid off onto the plate. I wasn't too happy about the pan quality. Its not quite thick enough or designed well enough to avoid the warp twist while in the oven. Of course it lays flat again as it cools but could be an issue for some bakers. This didnt matter for my potatoes but could cause an issue with a jelly roll cake baking or other delicate baking needs. 
If you do mostly frozen food warm ups, or are not an expert baker these pans do the trick and are not very expensive. They also store great as I said before.
