Unbreakable 4k
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first of the Shyamalan trilogy, a very good thriller that can not be missing from your collection since it is a classic and in 4K it is excellent.

The most realistic superhero origin story ever!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Big improvement over HD Blu-ray. Picture quality is fantastic on this 4K Blu-ray. This is the most interesting and realistic superhero origin story I've ever seen. A much more realistic take than the typical Marvel or DC fare. Bruce Willis plays a man who is the lone survivor of a horrible train disaster--and is not only the lone survivor, but has survived it completely unharmed. Later, he discovers a business card under his windshield wiper with the question hand written on the back asking, "How many times in your life have you ever been sick?" He thinks about it and realizes that he can't remember being sick with so much as a cold even once in his life, and goes to see the man who's name is on the business card to find out why he left the card and asked the strange question. The man suggest to him a quite amazing theory, that Willis may be something more than just an ordinary man--and that throughout history, people have occasionally appeared who are stronger and more difficult to injure than ordinary humans, that legends of figures such as Hercules, Samson and Achilles might actually be based on a phenomenon that really exists--on a special type of person who is occasionally born in order to protect those who are unable to protect themselves. And the train crash isn't the only such incident in his life he has survived either. Willis can't help but begin testing his physical limitations just to see if the silly idea hold water, and as he does so his son begins to believe that his father really is something beyond ordinary people, even though Willis remains in denial about it at first himself. How would you or any other real person respond to such an outlandish idea? We certainly wouldn't don skin tight leotards like the superheroes in comics and movies--and neither does he. But, he slowly begins to believe in the possibility that maybe--just maybe--there might actually be something real to the utterly insane idea that he could be something more than an ordinary human being, someone truly special. This is the most realistic take on how a person would react to discovering they were more than ordinary people ever put on film. It is without a doubt the most intelligent, adult and believable take on the whole idea of a superhero ever done. It is not an action film but a straight drama about how a real person would respond to such a crazy theory about themselves and what they would do if their tests of their own physical limitations started to hint that such an idea might possibly be true. Unbreakable is a very unusual movie which is extremely well done. A great script, great acting and great directing makes this unusual story surprisingly believable. I really liked it--and I typically find the whole superhero idea to be utterly silly and juvenile. Yet this film presented the idea in a very adult and unusually realistic manner. This is a film for grownups and does not pander to kids in the least. I highly recommend this very unique and extremely well done film. It is truly a one of a kind motion picture.

Check this one out
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great movie, and a good 4k transfer as far as I can tell. I don’t have the greatest sound setup in the world, but no issues as far as I could tell.

One of the better Shymalan films...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly, this movie is near perfect. The performances by Willis and Jackson, the exceptional writing and direction by M. Night Shymalan, and that amazing score by James Newton Howard—all making for an incredible journey. My biggest gripe with this film has and always will be the ending. I’ve never been able to tell if Shymalan ran out of ideas or the studio forced him to end production prematurely, but it feels like there should have been far more than a fade to black and expositional texts appear. It’s not like the last few minutes ruin the movie at all, it just doesn’t have a worthy resolution. Regardless, this is definitely a must buy.
