What an incredible experience! From the warm welcome upon arrival (greeted on the jetty by staff and handed a welcome drink) to the informative staff on hand throughout our stay - it was one of our favourite places to stay in Borneo! We stayed in Villa 19 which was set a bit further away from the main area than the rest of the lodgings but that suited us, it allowed for a stroll along the wooden walk ways listening to the surrounding jungle and dodging bats at night. The boat tours are wonderful - we managed to see a 10ft Croc up close...(some would say too close) & the pygmy elephants at a distance! And then snakes, birds, monkeys along the way. Truly magical. Our tour guide was very funny and provided so much info along the way! The dining area is nicely presented and offers great views of the river as you eat and drink - but the food itself got a little repetitive and bland after a few days. But thats a minor detail. The staff were attentive and regularly cleared away tables and plates. The bar and pool areas (2 separate pools) were clean & peaceful and provide ideal spots to cool down and refresh with a cocktail or beer. There are also events and regular expert talks about rhe wildlife and history of Borneo - well worth sitting in on one evening We miss this place!

We saw the Borneo big 5 during the 4D3N tour~so lucky, fantastic and unbeatable experience, really worth it, if you like the wild animals, there is the paradise. The resort will ring the bell if the Orangutan visit, there was 3 times bell during our stay, guests all came out no matter what they were doing, very interesting~ I will come back definitely

Watching a herd of 30-40 elephants cross a tributary of the river was definitely the highlight of our stay. I can't say enough good things about our guide, Jumaidi, and his enthusiasm in working for us to see the Borneo 5 (which we did) but especially the elephants. On our second day and on our last scheduled river cruise, he had gotten word that elephants had been sighted on the river. He quickly gathered our group together and we were the third boat to arrive and had front row seats to watch a large herd crossing a tributary near Oxbow Lake. It was an amazing experience! Obviously, good luck and timing were on our side and there's no guarantee that you would see elephants but I feel the lodge works hard to schedule enough outings to maximize your chances. My husband and I stayed 2 nights at Sukau Rainforest Lodge as part of a 5 Day/4 Night tour package we booked through Borneo Eco Tours (Package BB7G). Our Deluxe Room was very good - not huge but fine, the AC worked great, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean and bug-free. The food at the lodge was very tasty. There was plenty of variety at breakfast, lunch, and dinner and we enjoyed all our meals there. I would definitely recommend a stay at Sukau Rainforest Lodge and booking with Borneo Eco Tours. The booking process was easy and Cindy was prompt in answering any questions I had.

What an incredible experience over the 3 days and 2 nights we spent at Sukau. Booking through Borneo Eco Tours everything was organised for us. We were picked up, transferred to the lodge by speedboat through the rivers and waterways which was great fun! On arrival we were greeted and briefed then it was off on our first cruise. Food at the lodge was great and drinks were reasonably priced. Our room was lovely, clean, with plenty of space and natural light. Now the best part the cruises, we were so lucky to see all the Big 5 during our stay (Proboscis Monkeys, Orang Utans, Crocodiles, Pigmy Elephant and Hornbills) we spent plenty of time out on the river with our tour guide who was informative and really friendly. Our time here was a really good mix of activity and down time, I would definitely recommend spending some time here for an unforgettable experience! We will be back again some time!

Realised we hadnt written this review! We stayed for 4 nights on an extended version of one of their tours. We arrived via boat and would definitely recommend entering the resort by boat (you can overland in/out and we overlanded out) but you get a true sense of the jungle as you enter by boat as well as a chance to potentially see wildlife on the way in! We 'only' saw proboscis monkeys on our way in but it was still a great experience! We stayed in a villa, which we would recommend if you are able to. Our villa was quite far down the boardwalk which was fine, but we weren't convinced you could hear the orangutan gong if it was sounded whilst we were in our room as we missed a couple of calls, so we made sure we spent most of our time around the resort. The room was great and had everything you needed. They were a bit of a walk (not far in the grand scheme of things but when it's around 35 degrees out plus humidity, it feels like further!) From the restaurant, reception, pool etc. Whereas the standard room types are closer. The food was great for breakfast lunch and dinner and had all you needed. We saw one orangutan from the hotel boardwalk by the villas. What we didn't realise, is that you are more likely to see them by the hotel than you are on the boats. We were told you 'seldom' see orangutans from the boats. So make sure you get around the hotel with your eyes wide open! The boat trips, one of the main reasons we were here were just out of this world! The weather is hot, but you get a really nice breeze whilst the boat is moving so you soon forget about the heat. The wildlife was incredible and we saw everything from monkeys to crocs to hornbills and everything in-between! We didn't see the elephants. There is a tour you can add on to go to an area more frequently visited by elephants but it was around 2 - 3 hours each way on a boat (with no chance of a toilet) so we decided not to do it. We heard of others who went and saw them and others that didn't, but that's wildlife for you! Nothing is guaranteed. The staff were amazing and did everything possible to make our stay. Jay was our guide and made sure we saw everything possible! Sadly palm oil plantations are visible from areas of the river and more obviously from the overland transfer. The more visitors that can go to the area (responsibly) hopefully will mean that the area can be further preserved. An out of this world place to stay and truly once in a lifetime (although I do hope that one day we might be able to come back!). You will not be disappointed but keep your mind open to what you will see as it is wildlife after all!

This place was incredible. To the room itself - (had all the amenities we needed and felt super comfortable whilst being in the middle of a rainforest), the buffet had sooo many options and all delicious and the staff were incredible. We saw some amazing animals (the big 5!!) on the river safari and our guides were fantastic and knowledgable. Shout out to Jenny at the egg station at breakfast - she was super busy getting all the requests from the guests yet had the biggest smile on her face and was the friendliest person. Thank you for a magnificent stay.

We booked our 4 day trip with Borneo Eco Tours and it did not disappoint! Our tour guide, Jonathan, was incredible as he was so friendly and knowledgeable. We would definitely recommend. When we arrived at Sukau Rainforest we were welcomed by smiling staff members and were blown away by the beauty of the lodge. The restaurant looked over Kinabatangan River and the buffets were also delicious with a great variety of food each day. We were pleasantly surprised by all the facilities and our room was clean, spacious and modern. We were extremely lucky to see the Borneo Big 5! Our top highlights were seeing the Pygmy elephants and wild orangutans. We saw the elephants on our first afternoon river cruise and we managed to see 5 elephants as they bathed in the river. Jonathan was great at letting us enjoy this amazing moment and we stayed there over an hour just watching them in awe. We then saw a mother and daughter orangutan on the second night and watched as mum made their nest for the night. We also managed to spot a male orangutan the day after. It was unbelievable! We would recommend this trip to everyone. The price is soon forgotten when you experience such amazing moments with wildlife and enjoy the setting so much!

Our family of four, kids ages 8 and 12, just spent 2 nights here and had the most incredible time! Our guide Farhan was the best and would highly recommend! He was patient, knowledgeable and one of the best guides we have ever had. We saw the Borneo big 5 and were very lucky to see elephants on our first day and then again on the optional night cruise, which I definitely recommend. Farhan told us to book the night cruise on night one as you never know the weather and so glad we did... we saw so much including the elephants under a perfectly dark clear sky... the next night no night cruise due to weather. Even saw an orangutan at the lodge on day two and some rhinoceros hornbills at the lodge! Will definitely come back and would highly recommend!

Exceptional location, wildlife, and all round amazing experience. The Sokau exceeded all of my family’s expectations, the place is brought to life by the energy of all the staff. All of the trips were amazing, we got to see Borneo Big 5 and much more of the natural beauty and wildlife and even on a night river boat cruise. It’s such a magical and exceptional place and we have made wonderful memories to cherish. Special thanks to Jimmy and Ash for going to extra mile to give us history of the local area, people and wildlife on all the tours. Absolutely love this place and what its stands for. Thank so much to the entire team.
