I thought the movie was kid friendly and a family movie for all ages

Family friendly movie

This movie is a lot of fun. It doesn't have the often weighty emotional story that Pixar likes to do, but lacking that doesn't detract from the experience. It's visually beautiful, has a fun soundtrack, and the voice acting doesn't actively detract from the experience too much (as someone who hates Seth Rogan, this is saying something for me!).

There are tons of Easter Eggs and references to other Nintendo games, including the musical score throughout. Almost all of them are aimed at thirty-something year olds who grew up around the time of the NES and SNES. The featured pop songs are also from that time period (e.g., AC/DC - Thunderstruck). But, this is just an attempt to keep adults/parents who watch this more entertained. It's very much aimed at kids. I would feel pretty safe showing this to kids probably 6 and up. There is a "scary" forest scene, though, and a bit of cartoon violence. So, use discretion.

Overall, it's lots of fun and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to Nintendo/video game fans, young and old!

A Fun Movie!

The Super Mario Bros. Movie reminds me of some of the older more classic kids films. Nostalgic in that it is purely about being fun, enjoyable, and pleasant to watch. It doesn't seem to rely on constant quips, cheap humor, or pure brand power. It has a meaty story, proper character development, characters with motivations, and still plenty of fan service. But it also brings plenty new to the franchise, with a wonderful cast set of characters, and may I say that Seth Rogan was an amazing choice for Donkey Kong, believable interactions between characters, and a setting that's easy to understand and stomach as strangers to the franchise but also maintaining what made the fans of the franchise love it up to this point.

Finally, the cinematography is intense and amazing. Scenes that illicit proper reactions and emotions, convey scale and progression of time. Miyamoto taking such a strong part in directing this wasn't just a great decision, but may as well have been necessary to this movies core being. Nearly every shot is thoroughly thought through, with placement of features and characters being intentional, and purposeful. To add to all of that, the HDR and 4K experience is stunning.

To say, shortly, that this movie is great, would be a disservice.

Great family movie

I really enjoyed the movie more than I thought I would.  Though it doesn't have the deepest story, the stunning action sequences and just seeing so many of my favorite game characters vividly brought to life made it more than worth the watch.  I also appreciated the special features, which included a brief but enjoyable look into the making of the film and some fun interviews with the voice cast.  The fact that the set came with so many options to watch the film (including a digital copy) was also nice.

Fun Film That Captures the Magic of Mario

Easily the best video game movie of all-time that can be watched over and over again. My boys and I both wanted to watch it again immediately after the first viewing! I was initially concerned over the acting talent hired, especially due to Mario's immensely iconic voice, but luckily it never even crossed my mind while watching. A great story, great visuals, hilarious jokes for both children and adults alike made this easily one of the best movies of the year.

An absolute blast!

The only negative is the lack of special features. With the movie being a billion dollar success and surely beginning a new Nintendo film franchise, you'd hope for tons of behind the scenes and commentaries but there's not much. Besides that all is fine.

Did not come with the full packaging, It's missing the shiny slip on cover

Received the product and immediately noticed problems. %231. Product was shrink wrapped. Not the factory plastic wrap. %232. Opened and noticed it was missing the case sleeve. %233. The disc's label graphics appeared dark and blurred. Immediately requested return. I was unaware the product was from a 3rd party seller called GRUV Ent. Will pay closer attention on next purchase.

This movie is good to watch with your family and friends but I didn't received this version after a VERY LONG WAITING. The company sent me the power up edition.
