The best big screen TV for the price of 2023
Let me just preface this review by saying the "for the money" rating is 5/5. I upgraded from a low end 2017 55 inch, and size wise, the difference is substantial. This is like the TV equivalent of buying a new graphics card if yours is 10 years old; if you aren't already use to it, the size is going to completely change the experience you're gonna have with any content, almost making old stuff feel new again. That being said, The picture quality is really good, but certainly not perfect. The direct-lit screen is actually remarkably close (to the eye) to OLED in black depthness, and there is very little halo around bright spots. Unfortunately, where it is lacking, and probably the biggest difference you will see between this and a TV 3x more expensive, is color uniformity when there is a flat constant color across the screen. You can see darker spots and lighter spots and lines where the LEDs are. If you are viewing content or actively playing a game, you're almost surely never going to notice it to the point it makes your experience detrimental. However, if you're using the screen as a computer monitor, you're definitely going to see it very often. Again, I do want to emphasize that it "isn't that bad", and for the price, completely acceptable. The input lag could be a little better, but still very playable. Maybe not good enough for gaming competitively, but who's going to be doing that on an 86 inch. The lack of hdmi 2.1 and 120hz is a bummer, but you are gonna pay 2x as much for a tv exactly the same with just those features. Considering very few or no games (especially on consoles) run faster than 60fps in 4k anyway, and there are massive diminishing returns on framerates above 60, as a life long gamer and media enthusiast, it's really, for the time being, not a big deal. However, if you want to "future-proof" your tv, this could be a deal breaker. The worst thing about this tv is the user interface. It runs a little choppy at times, is a bit clunky and annoying to use, and is the worst user interface of any TV brand I have owned. Turning the tv on for the first time without an internet connection was a nightmare. This doesn't matter much to me as I will almost always be playing from an external device as opposed to the smart tv functions, but, for some, I can see this as being a huge bummer. But, also, for those people, they would probably use it enough to get used to it. The sound is nice and loud, but can distort a bit with certain high frequencies, and has very little low frequencies, but still overall very good . I think most people going for a tv this big will also invest in some kind of sound system, so I can't really see this ever being a deal breaker. Mounting was easy and took about 30 minutes with someone helping me. The tv is heavy but still very manageable for 2 average sized adults. Unless money is of no meaning to you and you demand the absolute best, this is the tv to buy. You are getting 90% of a 3k tv for 800 bucks. If you opt to spend more, the diminishing returns on what you get will be crazy. If you have a $1000 budget (all in with mount and taxes), and you have the space for it, i I would 100% recommend getting this over a 50 inch OLED or other "high end display", the image quality on this is good enough and the size is simply epic...

This review aims to provide an in-depth analysis of why I found this TV to be an absolute game-changer in the world of home entertainment. From its stunning visuals to its immersive audio, the LG TV truly exceeded my expectations. Visual Brilliance: One of the standout features of the 86-inch LG TV is its breathtaking display. The TV's slim profile seamlessly blends into any decor, creating a seamless and modern aesthetic. Smart Features: The LG TV is equipped with a range of smart features that enhance the overall user experience. With webOS, navigating through apps and streaming services is a breeze. Whether you're watching an action-packed movie or listening to your favorite music, the audio quality is top-notch, creating a truly immersive environment. Room for Improvement: While the LG TV offers an exceptional viewing experience, there are a few areas where it could be improved. Firstly, the remote control could benefit from backlighting, making it easier to use in low-light conditions.
