Q: I have had my mattress for just over two weeks. When I came home today, I noticed a really strong off gassing smell. I hadn’t noticed it before today. Is this common with your mattress and when does the smell go away?

A: The off-gassing smell is completely normal and temporary, usually fading within a short time. Rest assured, our CertiPUR-US® certified foams contain no harsh or toxic chemicals, and the odor is not harmful.

To speed up dissipation, try tipping the mattress on its side or placing cups of white vinegar nearby. Let us know if you need any further assistance!

A: Hi Shawna. All three of our Douglas mattresses are great for side sleepers. In fact, the highest amount of our five-star reviews come from side sleepers like you and your partner.

In your case, if your budget allows for it, I would recommend either the Alpine or the Summit model, as both have additional cooling technologies that might come in handy next summer. The Alpine is 11 inches tall, and the Summit is 12.
