Material
What is cotton?
Cotton is one of the world's most appreciated and used natural fibers. Textiles in cotton are soft, hardwearing and can be washed at high temperatures. They are also good at breathing and absorbing moisture – making them pleasant to wear close to the body. Today at IKEA we use more and more recycled cotton and strive to make sure that all the new cotton we use has been grown and produced with less and less amounts of pesticides, fertilizers and water.

The TESAMMANS collection – an interplay of colors and shapes
When creating the TESAMMANS collection, we collaborated with the color experts and design duo Raw Color which comprises of designers Daniela ter Haar and Christoph Brach. Together we explored the emotional aspects of color and how color interactions can be created in a myriad of materials and functions. The result is a colorful collection that goes beyond the expected and elevates simple shapes through playful and sophisticated color combinations.

Designer thoughts
"The design of the knitted TESAMMANS throw is a graphic interplay of lines and solid colors where the blend of the six basic tones creates more colors. Thin lines of two tones merge when viewed from a distance, so we perceive a new shade. It’s only when viewed from up close that we can distinguish the separate colors. Something that you quickly discover when you wrap the wonderfully soft and warm cotton throw around you while snuggling up on the sofa.”
